My service tech also has mentioned that engaging near the top of travel is normal. He had to drive my car for a while in order to do a flywheel learn (different from a clutch learn) and commented that my car drove and shifted very nicely. Hmm.

Engaging near the top is a sign of near finshed or finished clutch, normal spec engagement of the stroke is near mid to bottom(depending how new and used)..near top prepare the clutch saving fund, can last a few month..can last a few years, depends on the driving behavior and mileage. Once you get slipping on the highway(full throttle in high gears), you know the time is coming to an end..

The learn you talk about is the Misfire Factor Corrections relearn, all cars up to 2009 lose them when the battery goes flat/low..this road test needs to be redone unless they car saved in the AMDS at your dealer, they can then just be restored/uploaded without a road test..providing nothing in the powertrain has been replaced.
