too late now bud, the ink has dried...you're gettin' it! Truthfully the DB9/DBS are fairly problem free cars, you're going to love the rumble and growl of the v12!!!

 

Sunir you're right, I'm stuck with Aston now. Hard to believe I had the Vantage 6 mos ago and now moving to the V12. I believe you'll be right. The V12 should be music to my ears.
I now have a 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinder in my stable. Should be fun!

Most of the minor issues I've had have been cosmetic and quickly covered under warranty (i.e. rattles, squeaks, tow hook cover...). The most significant issue I've had was an airbag warning light that turned out to be some minor corrosion on one of the wiring connectors. But, because it was related to safety equipment, Aston Martin decided it was best to replace the entire wiring harness (about $6k) under warranty. By the way, Aston Martin roadside assistance picked the car up from my house and sent it to my dealer about 2 1/2 hours away and then brought it back after the work was completed. I had to do without the car for about a week but it's understandable considering they had to order parts from the UK to get it all taken care of.

 

Great choice of colors. Pretty much the same as mine so please stay out of Florida.

Casino Royale is a nice color on the DBS, I also LOVE lightning Silver, reminds me of the Iriduim or diamond silver metallic on my SL55 AMG Benz.

For some reason lately I'm drawn more to Earthy tones in cars, greens, orange, yellow, and reds...must be the change of season, fall approaching on the East coast, leaves changing color etc...!

 

I agree for an Aston these two are my favorite colors. My other cars are black and white, and I normally don't like silver or gray colored cars. But for the Aston, it is so elegant that it is the only car that can shine in these tones. My 430 being black is an ultimate pain to ever keep clean.

My previous Vantage was in Lightning Silver and it is the most brilliant color I have ever seen on any car. If I hadn't had that color before I would definitely have chosen the DBS in that color. However the Casino Royale color on th DBS just seems to suit the longer lines of that car...or maybe it's just the James Bond effect.

 

Casino royals is a very nice color, very conservative like a nice suit, but also graceful and tactful...bold enough but blending in properly. Silver is more deliberate, it's safer but it's never out of style. I really love the Aston slate blue, which is one of the big factors of why I chose my DB9. The color was simply breath taking and a really fit the lines of a DB series car, with the silver meshed and accents was perfect - like a casino royals infused with a nice royal bluish hue. Another color I really like is dark green, like the traditional British racing green of the legendary D type leMans winning jags of the past!

 

Great descriptions....I do like the slate blue on your car. Aston has a wonderful way of bringing out different hues in various lighting with these colors.
I know you're going to rib me, but I think the British racing green looks best on a Lotus

 

I agree british racing green looks great on Lotus, like it was meant for that car maker and for many years Lotus did the color proud...

and I only rib ya cause I like ya...and it's fun lol haha! You're a track guy so definately a good sense of camaraderie between racers and track enthusiasts...Oh and by the way, Lotus makes a hell of a road course car... if you ever get a chance to drive a downforce car take it, like a forumula atlatic or Continental...Radicals are also fun!

 

I have owned a V12 (E-Type) and driven several Aston V12s. They're absolutely superb -- there's nothing like a V12. I do know what I'm missing. But for me, it's not only about cylinder count (is a V16 always > V12?) -- those other things in your list also matter to me. Dry sump > wet sump

Yes, V16 is always > V12 (if we are talking about a modern V16). I'm not comparin' some ancient Caddy V16 to a modern V12. However, the V16 in the Caddy Cien would be quite tasty. And I would have such a beast in a heartbeat.

 

So it is all about cylinder count for you. In that case, fair play.

I own an Aston v12 and love it but I agree with speedraser on this one... I don't think displacement always wins, in fact it's been proven on the racetrack otherwise many times..Porsche and Mazda are 2 examples of the many manufactures who have won races and championships on small displacement powerplants. Personally the metzgar engine is one of the best engines ever produced and it's a 3.6L flat 6 cyl. That engine is roughly half the size of the 6L v12 and believe me that engine in my gt2 would ansolutely annihilate the Aston v12, even the one in the new vanq. I also agree that things like turbos, dry sump, larger intercoolers, better flow control, better induction, more effective fuel mapping and boost management make a HUGE DIFFERENCE. There is, in my estimate, so much more to making a great engine that merely number of cylinders or the relative displacement in consideration.
