2009 V8V - ODB2 Port Doesn't Work.
Howdy folks. First to intro myself - I picked up a 2009 V8V a few months back with about 6100 miles on it from the Aston dealer in Dallas. This is a semi-daily driver for me as I have other toys for the weekends. Love the car, no regrets at all. It has the Quicksilver SuperSports exhaust and Larini Cats. Awesome sound. I can't get enough of it!
Now for my problem - CEL came on while on my way to work one day last week, along with the emissions service message. I know this is common and I'm not too worried about it. I figured I would scan it when I got home. But, my scanner just gives me a connection error message and I can't pull the codes. Anyone else have this issue with the ODB2 port on their cars? I popped the connector our of its socket and peeked through the glove box door and all the wires seem to be intact. And, my scanner works on my other vehicles, no problems. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll drop off the car at the local Aston dealer here in Austin sometime next week. I just hate to drop it off without at least knowing the codes....
Thanks,
Ed

There should be two ports on the driver side, right by where your right knee would probably be. One is for engine OBD, the other is for body. Most regular tools won't read from the body port. You want the engine port. Flashlight & mirror time

Hmmm... I was in the driver's foot well upside down yesterday and couldn't find a port anywhere. The port I did find was in the passenger's foot well, right next to the tire pressure monitor system. I didn't realize there were two ports. I'll dig around tomorrow to find the proper port. Thanks for the response.

Thanks guys. I found the port this evening. Don't know how I missed it yesterday. Maybe too many beers while goofing off in the garage.
Anyway, my scanner told me P0442 was the only code. This indicates Evaporative Emission System Leak (small leak). I cleared it and I noticed that I had not properly installed the gas cap on the last fillup which is probably the cause of the code. I re-sealed the gas cap and will do a spirited drive to/from work tomorrow on the tollways to see what happens.

Sorry for reviving such an old thread but I've been searching through looking for a post that can hopefully answer some questions for me with not much luck.
Hoping someone can help me with the settings on this. I'm sure it's pretty basic if you have some experience with this.. But I'm really clueless.
I tried entering the vehicle information manually as obviously 2005 Aston Martin DB9 isn't an option.
Using the Volvo XC90 as my vehicle I have tried several different combinations of model years, engine, transmission etc. As you can see in the photo it's also asking for location, etc.
Can someone please help advice me on what settings I should be trying? I have a feeling that maybe I'm missing something pretty basic here..? It keeps saying that it can't connect because incorrect vehicle information, low battery as well as some other things I have ruled out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to clear an airbag light.

Thanks for the link. That definitely got me pointed in the right direction but unfortunately the code I'm looking for isn't listed when I'm able to scan.. I guess I have to mess around with it a bit more. :/
