Not necessary. It's not a daily driver and the wax that is on it is Zymol Vintage...one of the best carnaubas in the world. He wanted the guards red to come through.

For you, based on your Aston being a daily and parked outside, we opted to do nano sealant

 

How long is the nano been around? isn't it all new technology?

 

This particular product has been around for almost two decades. Just a few years here in the states. We've been doing r&d since 2010 and put it into production a year ago with grey success.

Is it similar to the CilaJet offered by the dealer in action?

 

We're not the manufacturer. We were asked by manufacturer in Germany a few years ago to test product and later bring it to market in us. This manufacturer is same one that sells its glass sealant to Porsche and the product is on every car that leaves factory.

Completely different technology than cilajet. This stuff actually works.

 

You guys are working WAY too hard at all this. I currently have 7 condition1/2+ high end cars in the garage 2 of which are black and ALL the rest are dark colors. Here's my technique: 1-go thru automated no touch carwash 2-go for immediate drive to dry car 3-go home and use California duster to remove road dust from drive 4-Spray sparingly with Griot's Garage detailing solution and wipe. YOU'RE DONE IF any correction of the clear is required I use almost any bottle of scratch remover if it's small, machine if it's a larger area. One of my black cars you can use as a mirror if you want to comb your hair. I will match these results with any paint technique out there. wax has NO VALUE to the clearcoat, PERIOD. wax is for PAINT! The ONLY protection that will help prevent damage to your clear is a clear or vinyl bra!

The method above will surely be putting scratches in the paint. The fact you drive the car, then use a CA duster on it, will do damage to the clear coat. You're also using products that contain silicone fillers, Griot's Speed Shine I presume, which is fine, but you're masking the problem. Also, "scratch remover" is a marketing term for most OTC polish/glazes...those are designed for DIY use, and once again, you're masking the problem. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you know it's being done and you're OK with it.

For those wanting to have a true legitimate finish, there's no shortcut. Stay away from car washes, no sprays wipe downs instead of a proper wash, and use proper wash mitts and towels. You'll find, actually washing your car with proper products and simple technique, yields great dividends for many many years. It's not difficult or time consuming either. You can do a proper wash and spray wax in less than 30 minutes and it's bonding time with your car, or immediate gratification...whatever turns you on.

Lastly, wax is critical for proper protection of your paint. Read your owner's manual under the car care section. It's the sacrificial layer protecting the paint and clear coat. Yes, a clear bra is much better, but that adds another element of pros and cons that I won't get into.

 

Optimum makes a spray wax I use as I dry car after a quick ONR 2 bucket method wash. The quick detailer (I guess what you refer to as 'instant detailer & Gloss Enhanser') is used between washes or while out at a car show or whatever. They are 2 different products. For a quick detailer I have several brands, I've tried Mcguire's, Pinnacle speed shine, mothers, etc...etc.. they are all similar I sppose, currently I'm using a bekkers product. I think Optimum makes one as well.

 

What is your weekly wash routine ? process and product specifics ..

 

I dunno if you're talking to me or not. I don't wash my cars every week, they are garage kept and washed with 2 bucket ONR when needed. They are not daily drivers. Between washes I use auick detailer/gloss enhancer to keep the dust off. All of this assumes the paint is in tip top shape, which it is from either corrction, clay, sealant and wax coat (prior details).
