Aston Special Tools
Aston Special Tools
I recently bought a complete set of Aston Special tools for my Vantage. These are all the tools listed in the appendix of the shop manual. The tools came from a dealer that went out of business.
I now have an opportunity to by a set for the DB9. Is there any demand for borrowing or buying the tools?

When I do a complete engine tear down and rebuilt, there are tools that make the job easy and perfect first time around.
Or if u want to lift and support the engine, great stuff..but for jobs that the even above average guy would need to repair there Aston..special tools are not needed

IRISH, Good points, the vast majority of the tools I will never use or hope I never will need.
I expect that at some point I will need to replace the clutch and will utilize the flyweel stop/clamp and clutch dumy input shaft. Possible over time the ball joint and and front and rear seal removers/installer may be usefull. I doubt I paid 5 cents on the dollar of their orginal cost. Maybe if some else needs them, I can rent a tool out for $10 and make my money back over time.

If I happened to damage them and they were backordered from AM, I'd just order them from JLR..same exact thing just not anodized black.

JLR doesn't have the flywheel tool, but honestly if a tech was already using it and I needed something, prybar did the trick perfectly.
However, be advised, you'll still need to support the engine from the top via strut towers. Most of the generic braces are by A-frames and will go on the wings/fenders, resulting in cracking them. The aston support bar/tool, bolts to the strut brace mounts for support the engine. We've made our own version for our VAP shop brace versus buying the AM tool..so if you can weld, should be able to fabricate the brackets and secure your brace to the strut towers.
