How difficult is it to get the seat controls panel out of the console side?
I have ordered a V8V and the Q program could not put in the new seat controls from the DB9/Virage that have aluminum accents because they said it had a different connector than the V8V. I think they look so much more classy than the black plastic ones in the Vantage. I am considering ordering 2 from the dealer and installing them myself after splicing on the old connector in place of the new connector. How do you get the old ones out? By taking off the top of the console with the ashtray etc in it? How difficult is that? Thanks for any input.
Some of the UK guys have looked at this when they first appeared on the Virage
Apparently its not the plate with the switch but the cable connectors further down the loom.
They don't match so you would need to get hold of the right connector and splice it into the loom to make it work.
Getting to them is a fair bit of work starting from the console

Forget the idea..would be nice but would cost to much. The V8V's still have the old switch style with the new module adapted to the old systems. The Virage/New DB9/Rapide, all have the new switc hpack with the new module.
Old switch uses multiple wires for each seat movement/motor..new switch uses 3 wires only(pwr/gnd/LIN) ..you would need the whole system setup to run on a LIN network..$$$$$ ..would be cheaper to chrome or billet cap your original switch

Man, that bites a big one. I didn't expect it to be that complicated. Is it difficult to get the switch out to have the parts plated/painted or at least get the two seat adjuster bars off to do those?
Is it possible to just replace the plastic (buttons) with metal. Making a billet piece would not be that hard, but someone with access to a 3d printer would make it in a snap. I think alot of use would buy if the price was reasonable.
I agree, the two things in a Vantage interior that are total cheese are the seat button controls and the Ford turn signal stalk (which I despise). I could could see a definite market for pop-on billet replacements on the seat controls, the turn signal stalk would be a lot harder!
I have a pal that owns UUC Motorwerks - I'm sure he could make replacement seat buttons on his CNC machines. Anyone have a spare (dead) seat controls switch module they can donate to the cause? Because that's the first thing he's going to ask me for. And while I'm at it, I'd have him make up some billet door latches, as the painted black ones in the door jamb could stand an upgrade as well.

Good ole Rob L from uuc! Looks like the pizzafest connection is working out for us Duane! I still have one of the original uuc race exhausts with DTM dumps out of the back box! Rob shipped it to me new and have had that on the racecar for 10 years and it's still rockin n rollin! It has a nice bluish gold hue now from all the heat cycles on track from years of competition!
You got it, Sunir...Rob and I have done projects before - heck, I even gave him the name for his company! If I can get a dead seat switch module to send to him, I know we can do a run. So far, no one has responded with one....
