To wrap or not to wrap...
To wrap or not to wrap...
That is the question... Don't get me wrong, it took awhile for my Magma Red V8VS to grow on me. I remember the first few weeks I had buyer's remorse. But the more I saw the color in the sun and at night, and saw how the differences really "popped" compared to other Astons, I grew to love it. In the sun, there is a pearl metallic flake that sparkles, at night it has a deep red wine color that has real depth in the polish.
Regardless, in looking at purchasing my own car detailing supplies (about $500 worth for polishers, all the chemicals, etc.) plus the thought of paying mucho buckos for a clear bra in the future, I'm not too far off from considering a full vehicle wrap.
I've been toying around with the idea of satin pearl white. I've always loved white cars and think the same principal of having a unique color as Magma Red would apply if I went satin white. And of course, it is completely reversible when I change my mind later on. Does wrapping a vehicle like this, take away from the classiness?

Well, you asked.
The satin finish makes sense on and even works on a flat slabbed beast like an Aventador. It accentuates the chunks and celebrates the part lines.
On a sleek, speed form shape like our Vantages, satin, especially white tends to kill the sensuality...and look a little "more money than sense" too. That dark gray satin V12V that we saw a while back was pretty cool, but it was the dark color that made it work. So if you're gonna wrap, that gray might be the solution.
Can't say I blame you for considering it. Yesterday, I caught a sun glint off of my hood that showed surface streaking in the clear coat. It may have been there from the previous owner but I suspect it's from my washing or dusting since it followed the direction I always move. I'm amazed that the very gentle action and products I use could do that. Talk about a soft surface!

I think wrapping is ok if you are going for a flat color. As you pointed out the flake in your red sparkles in the sun and no wrap can do that. When I see wrapped cars for sale, I am very very curious about the condition under the wrap, so I would document the paint condition before you wrap it just in case you want to sell.
Hmm... Bad lighting on this picture.
And this one makes the Vantage look "unfinished"... Definitely a negative for me.
I guess it's considerd "black"

Funny, it's the matte white that I think looks unfinished. Like fresh plaster that's waiting for some paint.

Yes, I'd agree with satin pearl white, but the satin white in those pics ^^^ doesn't look pearly at all. Not sure there is a pearl option. Wrap doesn't come in every conceivable color...yet.
like most stuff, it depends on the quality of the job, just the other day I saw a white car that was wrapped in matte black it looked awesome you could not tell, I asked the guys if they had painted the car, they opened the door and showed me it was a wrap, then said I guess we did a good job huh? they had done a clear bra first then wrapped over it, looked pretty good.
+1 on Mikes300 - the quality of the wrap depends on the installer. We work with a guy locally who does great work, however we have had a few cars come in that were wrapped elsewhere and were more like a 10ft finish - up close there were bubbles, seams, and just didn't look as nice.
The matte white is nice, but keep in mind that it will probably show dirt pretty fast compared to a matte grey or black.
Here is a car we had done for a local customer in a matte grey.

Exactly. Magma Red looks amazing. So few Astons have bold colors like that so it's also really unique. White is nice and certainly is popular, but it's being a bit overused now IMO and I'm starting to tire of it. Stick with the red, and show us some pics!
