Am v12v
Am v12v
Hi All: thinking of picking up a new 2012 for approx 150. Never owned an AM before. First, any general impressions would be greatly appreciated. I currently own a F430 Scuderia and a Maserati Gran Turismo S MC shift (which I will trade). Owned a Porsche GT3 and RS previously, which I greatly enjoyed. Secondly, I have heard horror stories about AM depreciation. Is it that bad? Thanks.
In short, it's a wonderful car and I don't think I'll ever sell it. It's less of a sports car than the 430 or GT3 and leans a bit more toward the GT class. That said, the car handles amazingly well for its weight and the brakes are fantastic. The best part of the car though is the V12 with its wide power/torque band and beautiful exhaust note.
As far as depreciation, Astons depreciate as do all cars. I don't think that Aston depreciates significantly more than its peers. Also, Aston has stopped production on the current V12V run, which was very limited, so it may depreciate less than some of the other models.

The v12v has held it's value better than the other cars, that's for sure. With the production being stopped it should depreciate slower unless they release a new Vantage that blows it away or makes it look old.
I also bought my new 12 V12 in the price range you mentioned. At that price there is no first year depreciation. You can drive it for another year or two and have little depreciation. Just remember an Aston is a limited production car for a limited market. Whenever you do sell it will not be snapped up overnight.
I also have other cars including a 458 Spider and overall I like driving the V12 the best. Not the fastest etc. but more of an occasion every time you drive it. I drove both today and can still say I like the V12 best. Color does matter on resale so what are you looking at?

Just took my V12V out for it's first run since hibernation today.
I forgot just how much I love driving this car.
I also just installed a set of hi-flow cats and although it's not as quick as a 458 or Gallardo, the sound is simply amazing. I have had a number of 458 drivers comment just how wonderful the sound is.
Depreciation wise, it's pretty much on par with any of the other exotics; albeit not as bad as a Gallardo.
