DB-9 Linn Stereo Upgrade Update
DB-9 Linn Stereo Upgrade Update
It's been about 6 weeks now since my great car with a pos Linn 950w system has entered the shop. Almost done, system kind of complex, adds a little weight, EXPENSIVE, but I'm sure will be worth the effort. My guy claims to exceed the new Bose system, how you can do that w/o hearing aforementioned system is beyond me but hey, the guy has nads. Into the final furlongs now and getting excited because I have been involved since day one........made me ok with the process. DFM
Yes I am.....my guys called yesterday with a preliminary report and stated if this car were to be entered in an audio contest it would likely place well in the accuracy class. Also, he states his ears are still bleeding because of usable volume.
Update on finished product..........2 new hi end speakers in doors and rear seat area, using existing front dash speaker, 3 new amps, one new 8 inch sub, crossover network and mixing computer, sat radio, input for mp-3 etc. 8 grand but wow!!!! Finally I have a balanced all around good car with great tunes. AM should be ashamed of that POS LINN 950w system......what a joke. FM reception is abysmal and can crank that baby all the way up to 30 with no audible distortion. Sometimes you just want to rock out!

Absolute sound in McHenry.......way out there. Only have one guy doing all the work, though. He's a genius though, don't know how long he'll be able to keep up that pace. They worked on my car almost exclusively for 6 weeks.

Hey Man.......I'm still rocking my 901's!
Well maybe, but the Bose in my Acura was far superior to the Linn in my DB9, so at least for automotive applications, Bose seems OK to me.
hahha so true, if it has no high's and it has no low's it must be Bose!!

Has the main head unit been replaced? If so, could you post pictures of what the install looks like and also find out how they integrated it with the existing car's M.O.S.T optical interface? I'm particularly interested in how does one access the car's functions that are normally performed via the infotainment screen (e.g. auto-door lock, powerfold mirrors, etc.). I have heard of people completely replacing the audio with an aftermarket system and have always wondered how they dealt with the integration of car settings and audio and functions.
