I'm surprised by how many don't like the look of the F-type and think it's too tall. I just don't see that. Sure, it's tons taller than the E-type, but that car is from a different time and is absolutely tiny. If you're over 6' tall you almost can't drive it.

As for snaps, crackles, and pops, I like 'em. It may be unburnt fuel, but it's reminiscent of a racing car, which is kinda cool. The V12V does this every now and then on the overrun.

^^ Precisely why I cannot get one.... I'm too tall; might squeeze myself into one but, the one I drove had an odd seat movement if you moved it too far back it would automatically slide the seat forward ~4" and jam my knees against the dash. It did this even when moving which made for a very dangerous situation b/c you cannot stop the seat movement..... Damn thing, just kept moving forward even when the control buttons were activated to try and stop it!

Love the exhaust popping and cracking though, even the 6 popper sounds good!

Yeah, I was considering getting a Series 1 E-type at one point but I could barely fit between the original steering wheel (which is the size of those on most buses today) and the seat. I know you can get aftermarket steering wheels, etc., but it was just too darn cramped regardless. Still one of the most beautiful cars of all time though. Maybe I should buy one and just put it on display in my living room.

Series I's are the "purist's choice", however a series II with is a much better driving car and can be enjoyed daily. Wheel and seat are adjustable and oversize wheels can be fitted with tires that have grip, etc. Racer X, if you are under 6'2" an open OTS will feel nice, the coup a little snug and claustrophobic, but the ride on country roads with uneven, slightly bumpy pavement can not be matched by any car.

I had an opportunity to really check one out while I was getting service. I too liked the sound and while the styling is not as cohesive as the aston, they are a good value, imo.

However, I would go for a Z8 any time over the ftype. You might have to spend a bit more but a nicely maintained higher mile car is not far off and in 3 years it will still be worth what you paid for if not more, while the Jag will be worth 1/2 or at best 65% of sticker price. And you get one of the best looking roadsters on the road. Period.
