HP vs sportshift

Does anyone know how much hp the sportshift can handle?

I can't help you with a hp threshold I'm afraid, but Sportshift 1 features the same robust GT-ME1 Graziano gearbox as the manual cars, with the addition of Magneti Marelli automated electro-hydraulic controls. While the gearbox itself is very strong, the clutch can be a weak point on the standard car, so extra hp will likely take its toll on the standard clutch. The newer Sportshift II is actually aircooled and likely less tolerant of big hp increases. No doubt one of the tuning specialists will be along with further advice soon.

Grant is as usual great with info, the clutch seems to be the determining factor
ASM2 has had the air/oil cooler deleted but it is an easy retrofit (being done to mine)
Once that is done there is very little difference to ASM3 on the V12VS
As I understand it a version of ASM2 was also used in the 1-77

Sorry I should have specified. Sportshift 2. I have a 2012 V8VS

This is the deal... I love the way the car looks, feels, drives etc however I have this need for more power. The car is roughly 2 years old and has approx 8000 miles on it. I hardly drive it but when i do i wish it was a bit more aggressive hp wise.

I put the car up for sale and priced it pretty high with the mind set of if it sells it sells if not no biggie. Truth is I do not know what I would replace it with at this time.. I am not in love with anything at the moment.

Another problem I have is this car has one more year of warranty. The AM dealer in my area is THE WORST I have yet to come across and I have never been insulted as bad as they insulted me. Unfortunately the way I feel with this car is it has no warranty because I will not subject myself to them ever again... I feel if something goes wrong I have no place to go...

With that said... The only thing I have found that would add more Power is a super charger. Very limited info on this and what i have found is very vague. I don't know much about it so would basically be at the mercy of a performance shop. That scares me as well.

Any opinions on what route to go? I have not driven a V12 to see if it would satisfy my needs. I happen to like the ease of the Sportshift. Is it justifiable to step into a v12 vs adding to the v8?

Even this doesn't fix any warranty issues..

Thank you in advance

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 850-900 HP for the gearbox. As Mikey said, same gearbox was used on the 1-77. It is fundamentally the same unit as the Gallardos, and the twin turbo kits for those are usually pretty reliable gearbox-wise on the builds that are done for stock engine internals, which are usually around 850-900 BHP. Some a touch more. The consensus on those seems to be that much beyond that will start trashing the gearbox.

As has been said, the clutch is the weak link. But if you were to put in a twin plate unit, you could probably get 750+ out of the drivetrain.

ASM3 does indeed appear to include the oil cooler + the same slave cylinder that was used in the 1-77.

Thank you for the info guys.

Stuart, Do you know of any local performance shops I could reach out to if I decide to add to the v8?
