AST_X is infamous around these parts
Angry Aston Martin service and part department is unacceptable

Had an accident on my 2012 V8V, a lady hit me from behind and kept going until the front of my car hit the rear bumper of the taxi in front of me.....
glad the insurance company took care of everything.

But here come the part where i am losing my patient and i think its unacceptable.

My car has been in the body shop for two month now, the reason its talking so long is because the header panel is still missing, and no one knows when will it arrive, and what Aston Martin part department respond to me is the part has to come from England, and they do not have the part, they probably have to make it. and no one knows how long it will take.

I think its unacceptable to make an car and does not have the part to service it !

meh. You have to buy mass-produced cars if you want parts inventory. This comes with the territory. I blew the engine on my Porsche 993 C4S at VIR in 2002. Destroyed it. Not wanting to put a 60,000 mile junkyard engine in my 11,000 mile car I had Porsche build me a complete 993 engine from scratch in Germany and it took 6 months to get it here. Such is the nature of the high end car.

The Dr is correct
If you are refering to the head liner (any interior trim come to that)
It is made to order against your VIN
My replacement seat cover took 8 weeks, it didn't fit and a replacement seat took another 8 weeks

Oh bud don't get me started on back ordered parts!! Haha..

When refering to an Aston, header panel is the interior top rood trimming the sunvisors are secured at..

Header panel on some american vehicles is known to Aston as the "front bumper armature" ..it braces the front end together and houses the bumper beam..which shows no stock in UK, sure this is the part your talking about

I would push this with the dealer operation manager and request to speak with Aston's After Sales Manager..can't garantee things to move faster...worth a shot!

Sorry you're not getting much sympathy from us, but I have to agree with the others: this comes with the territory of owning a hand built exotic from a small manufacturer. Many parts are made or ordered from suppliers in batches and then replenished/re-ordered when the numbers approach zero. Two months is no too long of a wait. I recently had to wait 2.5 months for my repairs which were much less than yours.

Getting impatient or upset is not going to get your car back to you any quicker; so go have a glass of wine and relax knowing that your car will ultimately be repaired. If your first-world problem is that your Aston Martin is taking too long to get repaired, your life is pretty good.

you crack me up........never disappoint......while I agree through my laughter it does seem a bit harsh,,,and that's coming from the king of harsh! (currently in rehab for recovering a-holes) That's why winter is sooo hard on me 'cause I'm too long away from my cars

While waiting for parts you could consider your diminished value claim against the insurance company. The accident will come back to haunt you come selling time.

Speaking of which, has anybody on here accomplish this without a layer or one of those online services which only seem to get the minimum Line 7c settlement? I'm facing the same predicament. My dealer has offered to write a detailed appraisal for the diminished value, but I don't know who or where in the insurance company to send a demand letter to.

I don't think it's too harsh. I had almost the same scenario just happen to me, although luckily she didn't hit me with enough force to hit the car in front of me. 2.5 months without my car waiting for parts. Felt good to get it back when I finally did, though.

I see your profile says you are from Toronto. Have you satisfied yourself that the hold up is truly in the UK at Aston or is there any chance there is a problem closer to home? Just asking, in case you are 'fortunate' enough to be dealing with Grand Touring...

off topic a bit, but why didn't you just have it repaired. when you blow on the race track, in the worst cases, its usually only a short block that needs to be replaced. a used motor or short block is perfect, because you can just fit new parts to it, (like a piston, and that rod or two that broke) and re-bearing it and put all your heads cams, intake back on.
How bad was the engine blow, and what did a 993 motor cost? was a complete or just a short block, or long block( short block with heads and cams sans the intake and exhaust manifolds)
