Aston Martin SRS reset help
It's your car, do as you wish. When an airbag fault is present (warning is on) SRS system is disabled. If you crash no deployment will happen. If there is no module connection, same principle. Just don't crash!
OK everyone so updates!
Removed module, which was a pain in the ***. Had issues taking out the center console but did.
Send to a place in Riverside that resets volvo modules. They said they couldnt read it. Sent to myairbag place, and they said the same thing, its corrupt.
Bought a new module from AP Velocity (thank you btw, you guys are really the best!!) for $500 shipped.
Installed it my self which literally took me 15 minutes and put everything back (its easy once you get it).
Towed car to dealer today, and they programmed without issue! They checked everything else and even programmed the mirror close on lock (which i lost when i replaced battery).
They said car is perfect and checked out everything else and its good.
Stealer wants $230 for 1 hour labor. Isnt that a lot!???
Very happy. I guess $730 and its nice i know i have a brand new airbag module in the car. Was thinking of selling, but now with everything fixed time to enjoy and drive the hell out of the car!

a little unclear.. do YOU need to disconnect the battery for removal and installing the unit. cant that battery disable button be pushed to have the same effect (even though some current still flows I imagine to power some of the electronics.) if you DONT disconnect the battery, what can happen to the module or system when the module is removed? thanks!
You Don't need to disconnect the battery? the service manual says to disconnect it!And every other Manufacturer says to disconnect the battery for any electrical repair. Let us know what happens if you don't.
I just asked myairbag.com and they said all they do is reset the crash codes...………..Is this the right place??

BTW...... the service manual says something like , Only replace RCM the control unit on a non crash vehicle when it shows an internal fault code of "CFFF" thats what mine is doing

Harbor Freight OBDII scanner

I wanted to add to this converseation because I had an issue that required an airbag diagnostic and reset and I saw the suggestions of buying the speacial Autel 702 for European models. I then saw that one poster claimed that it worked if you told the reader that the car was a VolvoXC90. Anyway, I can confirm that this also worked for me on a 2007 V8V, but I decided to buy a Zurich OBDII reader from Harbor Freight, the idea being that if it didnt work I could take it back. So last night (Aug 2024) I baught a Zurich ZR13s for $160 (https://www.harborfreight.com/zr13s-obd2-code-reader-with-abssrsfixassist-57666.html]www.harborfreight.com/zr13s-obd2-code-reader-with-abssrsfixassist-57666.). I picked that model with no research simply becuase it said it could read SRS and ABS faults I hooked it up to the body port and ran it and it ran through a bunch of different protocols but none of them would work. It that asked me what car I had and of course Aston Martin was not listed. So I tried the trick of saying I had a 2007 Volvo XC90 with a 4.4l V8. That did the trick and it read 2 SRS (saferty restarint systems - aka seat belts and airbags). One was 'Seat Belt Tensioner, Passenger Resistance Too Low' and the other was 'Occupant Weight Sensor Parameter Fault'. I was able to clear these faults with the tool. The tensioner fault came back becuase I have an issue with that seat belt and have a used replacement coming (the spring that retracts the seatbelt exploded out of the casing and apparently cannpt be rapaired - but thats another story.
So if you want to add this to the list; the Zurich ZR13s is a good tool and its modern with bluetooth and wifi and the ability to get firmware updates. Just remeber that your car body computer wasnt, in 2007 at least, made by Aston but by one of the companies owed by Ford. Im not 100% sure that its limited to Volvo - maybe Jag or Land Rover connection protocols would also work. I will test that theory.

I was able to connect the nt630 to the right side body diag port, chose ABS/SRS/Airbag, the europe, then aston martin, then vantage and from there the unit found brake control module and restraints module. I was able to see a "P001F - Driver shoulder belt pretensioner squib resistance too high" and clear the code. I will try the NT630 on the standard obd2 port to see if I can do some of the AM specific stuff like oil reset, misfire info, etc before determining if i keep or upgrade the unit but for now I'm happy with it for $115.

How long did the code take to come back?
I had this same seatbelt issue with my LHD driver's side seat belt and I've seen at least 1 more person report tensioner spring problem so maybe this problem is not entirely uncommon.
I wasn't able to find a used belt so I ordered a new one from astonshop.co.uk for £600 with £80 shipping quote but then after order shipping was changed to £500!! due to explosive device. I cancelled the order as ordering from dealer was cheaper (annoyingly also lost $12 in the back & forth currency conversions).
After talking to the guys at safetyrestore, I went ahead and took a chance and sent in my belt with the broken plastic tensioner cover and they repaired it (plastic weld/epoxy and new spring) in 24 hrs and back to me in 2 days for under $100. The belt works great again, just need to keep that code from coming back, it would be a success and $1200 saved otherwise I will have to just order a new belt.
