New Wheels Fitted
Bought some wheels at a good price. How does the fitment look to you guys? Too much outward projection or just right?

HRE wheels? From one angle the rear looks like it may be out enough to contact the fender on extended wheel travel, but from the angle looking back from the passenger door it looks ok. Don't want to roll your quarter panel!
Do you have any spacers on or is this just the wheel offset?

No spacers, just the wheel offset as manufactured. Well, not quite....
Rears were 36 mm, so had a friend machine off 3 mm, resulting in a 39 mm offset vs stock 54 mm. So wheel is pushed outward 15 mm as compared to OEM. Also, taller rear tires (285 x 35) for a little more ground clearance and a better ride (+22 mm dia increase). Plus they do a better job 'filling the gap' in the rear arch.
Fronts are only +2 mm outwards (40 mm vs OEM 42 mm offset). Tires are also taller in front, but only by 6 mm dia resulting from going to a 255 vs stock 245 (same profile).
If I was getting new wheels, I'd use a 44 mm rear offset and leave the fronts at stock 42 mm. This way the rears would only be out by 10 mm vs the 15 mm I now have. After summer, I may have a couple more mm machined off. Probably can't do more than 3 mm extra without having the lug nuts penetrating the mounting face of the wheel, at which point you'd be screwed since the nuts would bottom on the rotor hat before the wheel did.
So, will drive around and see how much I like them the way they are.

Yup. Mr friend machined them out of aerospace grade alloy on a 5-axis Haas CNC, I then polished them up with a dremel and stuck the badges on in the machined recess. A truly quality job.

255 on a 8.5, like the vantage? it comes stock with a 235 and folks are going up to 235. i thought the 255 would look a lot better. the rear being a 275 is tiny too, and thought a 305 or 295 would be better the rear vantage rims are 9.5".

im asking, do the 255s fit on the 8.5 " rims??
are you sure they are 8.5" on the front like the vantage?
are the rears really 11s? if so, why not go 305s
vantages are 9.5 on the rear. they push the 275s to 285. if you have an 11s, that 285 should look a little undersized.

8.5 is the min approved width for a 255, and 11 the max for a 285, so no problems with fitment. No 305 because I don't want the tire sticking out farther than necessary, and the 285, being a 35 profile, keeps it from looking undersized. And keep in mind that those humongous 305s add quite a bit of extra weight for little added benefit.
I think people have a tendency to go wider just for the sake of saying they've got these huge tires (just like HP).

actually the larger tires do work better, as does more power, but on the street, its more important to look better as we all know.
