Just bought an '06 DB9 Volante!
It's pathetic how excited I am! 2006 DB9 Volante, silver with black interior, 39k miles. No pictures yet, but I'll pick it up next week.
My wife was actually more supportive than I expected...
The VIN ends in 04899; any idea how I can tell how early the car is? Also, how can I tell if it has the short dipstick?
Thanks!

Congratulations! It's going to be a long week waiting.
Earliest VIN I've seen for a DB9 belongs to a friend and ends in 00017 (it's a 2005). I think it's probably one of the first to arrive in the USA. Mine's a Feb 2006 build and I'm 05514, so you're a few hundred before me. Build date is on the door sticker.
New dipstick part# 4G4E-6750-AC.
Pics when it arrives!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Mine is 4783 and it was an 11/05 build if I remember correctly. The part number is on the opposite side of the Empty Full plastic part on the bottom of the dipstick if you didn't know.

Thanks for the welcome and information. I decided to invest £70 for a day's access to the technical section of Aston Martin's site and downloaded 88 documents and files (manuals, service bulletins, etc.). I hope to not need them (or rather, I hope my favorite mechanic doesn't need them!), but I suppose it's a bit like that umbrella in the trunk: when you don't have it...
