Interesting Design Observation

I picked up on something when my 2009 Vantage and my 2015 Mustang were parked next to each other...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Funny how some of the press criticizes Aston for its lack of new designs, but when the new Mustang copies design elements that are now 10 years old, it gets praised.

Yup. Current Astons are still the best-looking cars on sale today. I took my '09 V8V to a local cars & coffee-type gathering recently, and it was mobbed -- while surrounded by various Italian and other exotics. More than one person thought it was brand new, and remarked that it was the best-looking car there. I was a bit surprised, honestly. IMO, if it were introduced today, it would have all the impact it had 10 years ago. It's one of the all-time great designs.

Ford has been doing that for a while now - the Fusion being the first and most blatant rip-off of Aston's design.

Same belt line, for sure. How do you pick between the Vantage and the Mustang? I'd be itching to drive either one!

The Mustangs actually the winter beater and rainy day car, it's just a two-year lease. And my trailer be driving the Aston, but it's 5° outside and icy in Minneapolis right now!

Probably why you bought the Mustang - it subconsciously reminded you of some other brand lodged way back in your memory bank...

Actually, since i was 16 when my first car was a new 1969 camaro, I've had about 10 of them, or Firebirds over the years. The new Camaro feels like your driving in a tub and way to oversized with an interior design and materials that is substandard at best with even less technology than our vantages. The Challenger is a Chrysler 300 sedan with a different body... Even more of a pig. I had a Chrysler 300, could not wait till the lease was over - actually hated the car. The mustang is also far too large to be a pony car, but the interior design and technology is what got me to consider it. In the recession I traded down my beloved vantage for a cts- v and after 2 years traded down to a Ford Focus, the first run of the new design. It had better technology than the CTS and even self parked for 1/3rd the price with great handling. It won me over from a GM guy to ford. Do i love the mustang... No. Its just the best choice i think for 2015 in a what was once called a pony car. The mustang takes up more garage space than my CTS did, so they should all be called horse cars, certainly not pony 's anymore!
