DIY - H&R Lowering Springs + Adaptec spacers

Hi fellow members,

SRINGS
I tackled a DIY lowering job by means of swapping the OEM springs with the H&R-29148 over the past 2 weekends on my DB9. I first lowered the front axle and did the rear-axle the weekend after (without driving in the interim).

From the day the DB9 was shown to the public I've loved the standard 19" rims that came with the car. I've never been a fan of 20" rims on DB9's. Although I love the DBS-wheels they just do not seem the right fit on a DB9.

The one thing I've never liked though is the gap between de fender and tyre. Most will agree that in an ideal world the tyre radius and fender radius are parallel (as per stock setup). I do love the stance with the H&R springs installed.

As for the drive: it still feels brilliant although I've not driven enough yet to put up a final verdict: these springs need to settle first and I also need to have wheel alignment checked on the car.

SPACERS
I only have 18mm/0.71" spacers installed on the rear-axle. The front has no spacers yet but will most probably end-up with 13mm/0.51" spacers.

der Fahrer is on a distinguished road
That really looks fantastic and really adds the perfect amount of aggression to the DB9.

How difficult was the DIY?

Awesome stuff! I'm surprised the spacers were thick enough to cover the factory studs.

I had spacers installed that have the 5 new studs on them were the wheel will have to bolt on to. I had to cut-off the factory stud-thread about half an inch and also had to run-off on my lathe the hex-head on the M22x1.5 provided nuts used to mount the spacer to the hub: this to enable clearance of the nut inside the rim-recess.

I think I shall upload a picture which explains it all..

Since I reckon 13mm spacers will do on the front-axle I intend to install longer hub bolts only.

Ahhh that makes sense, then. I have this same style of spacer on my 4Runner. 100% bolt-on and no cutting necessary. But that's because they're 1.5" thick!

The spacers I had on my V8V were slip-ons, they didn't have their own lug bolts incorporated in them like yours or the ones on my 4Runner. But they also required longer studs.

I think he's got a roll cage and Bride seats in a V8V or something like that -_- Still waiting for pics of how those seats are bolted in!

I owe you indeed pics of the mounting of the Bride-seats. Forgot all about it. Will make these come weekend!

Below picture shows the nut-protrusion on the spacer: the green line on the nut shows the edge of where I ran-off the hex-head but still keeping the full thread height.

The final post to close this thread: a BEFORE & AFTER of the car which shows the great looks this set offers. Riding & Handling is still superb apart from the speedbumps which need a lot more care taking..

Very nice! I'm runnig HR springs as well on my DBS. The stance is killer but I wish the ride wasn't as rough.
