I have fabricated a license plate holder from a piece of aluminum L angle. I simply attach it to the underside of the bumper with velcro to pass the yearly safety inspection, and then remove it for the rest of the year. If you are interested, I will photograph it for you. You could attach it if you are parked in a public place where you are risking a ticket. Out here, the cops don't care a bit.
I'd never put a plate on the front and spoil the looks, and in the 8 times I've been pulled over it's never been mentioned once. The worst ticket I've gotten was delaying traffic and another obstructed plate because the rear mount slightly covers the state. Mostly it's a verbal warning like "just keep it down".

Realizing that no one likes to have a front plate, I live in California (nuf said) and have used tow hook options in the past with my Porsches. The issue is that folks do not like the offset nature of this approach and they tend to wreak havoc on parking sensors. I have used CravenSpeed's Platypus license plate mount for YEARS (fantastic customer service). I tried to go the tow hook route for my 19+ Vantage, but we just couldn't find a stud that properly anchored into the front tow hook. Forced to look for an alternative (I used a Skene - https://skenebrackets.com/ with great success on my e39 M5), but knowing that bracket, Skene didn't appear to be an option either. I just installed a Sto-n-Sho bracket ( https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07R24Q5...roduct_details ) that I am quite pleased with; I don't plan to run with a plate very often (see picture below where I ran into a 1992 NSX and its owner last night; I hadn't realized how bloated cars have become), it is a good to have the plate-option IF I choose to! The bracket uses a factory bolt location and some 3M tape, I am very pleased - I hope this helps someone out there! KH
been living in cali for twenty-five years and have never ran a front plate on any of my cars. nor has any LEO ever mentioned it. and i HAVE been ticketed, ONCE; for a seatbelt violation if you can believe it!
i WAS pulled over when passing through kansas a couple decades ago because i wasn't running a front california plate! at least that's what the officer said was the reason. it wasn't more than ten miles later that i was pulled over AGAIN, this time it was another highway patrolman and HE said i was tailgating...hell it was commute time and everybody was nose to tail, couldn't be avoided. as soon as i created assured clear distance someone would change lanes and fill in the space. neither incident involved getting a ticket. i think it was because i had a hard tonneau on my pickup truck, was out of state, and they had orders to sniff around for diesel and fertilizer in the bed.
In NH, the only thing I've been pulled over for in the past few years (*knocks on wood*) is a missing front plate. Only got a warning, but rather than deal with it again, I run the front mount that Redpants sells. No drilling, quality mount, sits pretty low. It used to bug me to have a front plate, now I forget it's there.
i just got done putting my front plate on my 2010 aston . Behind the front grill are 6 holes that are 10mm x1.5 , i used 3/8 threaded rod and it fit ! I then mounted the plate mount to it ( i had one from a c7 corvette ) and it lined up with the rods protruding through the grill , then screwed the plate on and im ready to get my inspection sticker , as soon as the sticker is on the plate goes in the trunk ! PROBLEM SOLVED ! Although ma requires a front plate i may get a ticket but oh well

NH is tough and you will for sure get pulled over with no front plate. A consideration for me, not to move there lol.
