Is the standard radio awful or ok?

 

its pretty decent. Ever been in an entry level luxury sedan (C class, Lexus IS, A4 etc) with the stock stereo? It's about the same quality of sound

 

Thinking of trading my 09 vantage on a new gt... I have the 700w now.

 

It'll be a notable step down in quality. Might be okay if you upgrade a few things aftermarket, but I couldn't do it (I like my music too much).

 

Just traded my 09 Vantage with 43,000 miles for a 15 GT blue with grey interior - went with 700W stereo. thanks for opinion.

I recently purchased a new 2014 V8v with a manual transmission. It is Volcano red with full black leather. The only options are fine stitching, heated seats and an additional glass ECU.
My only disappointment with car is that it has the 160watt audio system. Are there upgrades that will improve the system without impacting the factory stock appearance?

My Vantage S also has the base audio installed.

I've looked into a "factory" upgrade, and determined that it is possible. If you search the forum, you can find a post by me where I listed all the parts required for the factory upgrade to premium audio.

You could perform all the work yourself, with the exception of the activation via flash of the premium audio software in the head unit.

I'll attempt to search the forum and provide a link when I get home.
