They say copper is the new chrome.. I think it's a cool look, but will go away as fast as it showed up and really date a vehicle.

Bentley Speed Six (concept) had lots of copper highlights.

The most beautiful interior ever.

I'm a big fan of Green over chestnut hides... I'd consider this car if it comes out with a manual transmission. In terms of size, it sits between the vantage and the DB9.

Couldn't agree more. Manual transmission is probably a dream but that would be amazing. That interior is incredible.

Am I missing something here, but what about the tarnish issue?

I have done several Black E63 AMG brake sets in the AMG Copper variant, along with engine trim and on black paint it came out really nice (don't have pic on hand), but everyone loved it. However on a AM maybe, just maybe on a Black vehicle the Side Strakes and Calipers could be done with a Plated Copper (so bright) and Automotive Clear put on top. Might look stunning if interior bits were done that way, but IMHO only on Black or maybe a Dark Grey. With AM I don't think you can go too crazy before it looks cheap or a aftermarket add on. If it can look factory then should look great. Those Q bits in copper might be a metal plated in copper with a clear so no tarnish. I happen to do Oakley X_Metal glasses which are Ti in plated copper quite often and use a ceramic clear, so likely would work nicely on interior bits as long as they are not aluminum. Al is not friendly to plating. Just some opinions

What is your opinion on those Copper Calipers on the Bentley, if they were on a AM??? Look great or not?

Personally it reminds me too much of the 80's and gaudy gold trim on everything. and the cliche Ferrari owners with gold chains. Much like the 50's when chrome was over used.

Al can be plated, but you need a chemical layer, such as cyanide copper, between the two metals. It's done all time but adds extra expense and steps in the process.

Your correct, Al can be but its a huge pain, for at least what I have tried in my Breaking Bad lab. I do tend to agree about the Ferrari overweight guy in the glossy black Ferrari Jacket with several gold chains (there is always more than one chain) with some type of medallion. However Merc AMG pulled it off with their version, so did Datsun on the GTR. I just wonder how it would be on a AM, I am sure there is a way to keep it classy , but proper colors or a daring person. If i end up with a non metallic black one, I will be really tempted, but maybe not the bright copper. I just think on a black car it could look aggressive but still maintain the classy factory look.

My version of AMG copper

I knew I saw it somewhere, grabbed the photos for Brabus Mercs done in copper. Yes can be gaudy, however if done right should look great. Here is two shots of what they did.

I agree in moderation it can make a part of the car pop.

For the calipers I think it would be better to use a powder coat. it would be more durable than a plate and clear coat.

By the way, I will dig it up later, there is a thread covering this I think last year or so. Will find and post link, ***** looked cool in that thread

IF that valve cover is PC'd then yes I absolutely agree. The calipers on the AMG were planted then clear coated with clear, didnt have a PC near me. Plus you have to take apart the caliper and I wasn't going to deal with that.

The inside bits and maybe the strake parts was what I was thinking for plating. Not sure what they are made of, and likely they are Aluminum so very difficult to do. But a Brushed copper likely would look stellar.
