what are the thoughts on this.... seems like these guys wouldnt use it if it wasnt one of the best choices. i also worry about not getting all of it out of the system, as there has been talk of mixing antifreeze where they can cause it to thicken and glog things up.. i have a hard time believing that, but thats possible with conflicting chemistries

Dex-Cool is an OAT coolant so will not be a problem.

What do you guys think, I was asking Preston to see if they had a coolant that I could use in my 2009 Aston Martin Vantage and that is the answer I got:
************************************************Good Morning,

We recommend the Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant in the yellow jug for use in your application. It is fully compatible with the factory coolant and a suitable replacement for it, as well. Please let me know if you require anything further.

Sincerely,

Aaron Jones

Prestone Consumer Relations Representative
************************************************** *****

So from what I can find, it would be the
Prestone AF2100 Extended Life 50/50 Antifreeze
  • Prestone All Vehicles 50/50 Premixed Antifreeze+Coolant is formulated to work with All Vehicles
  • Works with all fluid colours; All OAT, POAT, HOAT and IAT
  • Longer Engine Life Guarantee - 10 Year, 500,000 kilometers extended life formula
  • The patented Prestone Cor-Guard® technology allows cooling system parts to be protected against rust and corrosion of all cooling system metals including aluminum
  • Protection for 500,000 kilometers
  • Ready-To-Use formula (pre-diluted to a 50% antifreeze+coolant and 50% distilled water mix)
  • Perfect for small volume top-off or complete drain and refill of the cooling system
So I found that it is correct info according to this site

is it bad to run 70% antifreeze? i think i only got about half out, and if it was 50%, and i put a gallon in and was only to fit about a half of gallon of distilled water.

i just flushed and put in the Prestone Platinum 15 yr in my 2009 V8V. hopefully it will last a long time. also installed the Motorcraft thermostat. took 5 gallons and many drains/fills/run to temp to get all the orange/pink out
Prestone makes bold claims about the coolant's life and chemical compatibility and not voiding manufacturer warranty so i will give it a try.
no real way to tell long term effects without total engine and cooling system disassembly in 5 yrs so hoping their claims are founded.

just finished a coolant flush. did the simple drain at the radiator and then used the Prestone OAT orange speced for Ford products, thinking that since AM was owned by Ford and the Tstat is a Ford product, shouldn't be a problem.

it was rather easy and I'll likely do this again in a few months to get more of the new product into the system.

Also, there may be an additive that will replace the corrosion and other properties of the original OAT coolant that you can add... has anyone looked into this?
