Help ! Alarm
Help ! Alarm
Tonight the alarm sounded on the Vantage while parked in our garage. I put the key in and it stopped. But after I started it, it had the yellow triangle and a warning that said remote battery low voltage. The car has been on the battery tender and was driven about 100 miles last Wednesday. I took it out for a ride and when I got back same thing happened. I put the key in and out several times and now it seems to be normal again. I hope it is just the ghost of Lucas, or maybe I need a new battery.
I tried all of the remotes and got the same message.

The car is a 2009. I don't know how old the battery is.
The message " remote battery low voltage"
I tried all three remotes and got the same message.
The alarm keeps going off until I put one of the keys in he dash.
Is there a fuse that I can pull to disable the alarm?
I looked in the owners manual but didn't see anything.

I've always known the alarm battery to ONLY power the alarm when the vehicle's battery was low or dead. The alarm model should run off the vehicle's battery...I've never had to look to far indepth on it so I could be wrong.
What I've usually seen trigger the alarm on its own randomly is one of the door micro switch or the bonnet switch...sometimes even the volumetric sensor(sensor for cabin movement)
Easiest way to diagnose is plugging in the vehicle to the dealer AMDS, your vehicle stores an alarm trigger history that Amds can retrieve. So the dealer can see the latest alarm triggered and what concern set it off..at least this way there's no guess work.

I would take it to the dealer but they are 2.5 hours away from me.
The message on the dash says "remote battery low voltage"
Do you think I can disconnect it until I can get to the dealer or replace the part?

Yah, low voltage msg is just for the remote battery. It has nothing to do the the alarm going off. If the alarm battery was low, you would get an alarm fault error in dash..but that could also be cause from a door micro switch and trigger that same alarm fault msg.
You can unplug the alarm module, that will disable the alarm module siren entirely..and just show a alarm fault msg in the dash due to the alarm being unplugged.. It's in the LHR wheel arch..remove the liner and you'll see it, looks like a speaker with a metal housing

OK. Then if it is the remote battery or key battery, then why does the alarm go off all by itself when I not even near the car? I also tried all 3 remotes and get the same message on the dash. As soon as I put the key in the alarm stops but have the message on the dash
"Remote battery low voltage".
"Remote battery low voltage".
The key has a chip, when you insert the key..alarm sees the chip and say's THANK GOD I'M NOT STOLEN!! The alarm shuts up and disables because it loves the chip in the key that is seen...kind of like an access alarm code for your house, chip has a code inside that tells the immobilizer "IT'S ME..IT'S ME!!"
When the alarm goes off on it's own, and you try to disable with the fob..the alarm will see the low battery voltage in the FOB and warn you it see's a low voltage in the FOB...just so you don't end up locked out of you car with no warning that your key fob battery is about to die soon...btw, the chip in the fob which is your "key", doesn't require battery voltage..2 separate circuits. Think of the chip as a magnet that has a value when passed through an electrical field.
Why do all 3 keys display this msg?..well your car is not brand new and most likely you replaced the batteries at the same time..or at least 1 of them is newer but now low powered leaving the other 2 removes near dead...so you can buy 3 batteries for the remotes and replace them..then try it out. On a regular driven car, the batteries are replaced once a year. You have a 2009, whens the last time you replaced the remote batteries.?
The alarm is going off on it's own, it's seeing something it doesn't like that "IT" believes someone or something is trying to steal/damage the car. Do you have a volumetric sensor in the car? It could be faulty and seeing movement..triggering the alarm. Disable volumetric through the dash and this will delete this as a concern. Is the car parked indoors? Do you need to lock it..if not, try not locking and see if the issue comes back. If it does, very well an issue with the alarm siren or something else informing the alarm to trigger the siren...
Again..anything is possible until the issue is known, it could be an ex sneaking in and hitting the wheel with a bat just to **** you off...you'll need to have the alarm history viewed...anything else will just be an educated guess from past experience

Called the Volvo dealer same thing numbers don't match.
Then called the Ford dealer numbers didn't do them any good.
