Seals for brake piston
Hi guys,
Just about to pick my 2005 DB9 up from my independent specialist after a service and there's one issue they haven't been able to solve immediately. My left rear caliper is leaking slightly from one of the inner piston seals but apparently replacement piston seals (not the dust seals) are simply not available - anywhere! Unless you get very lucky.
The risk of ignoring it, especially over time, is the pads and discs will gradually get contaminated leading to poor performance and wear plus a chronic squeal. Has anyone else faced this problem and how did you solve it? The only solution I've been given is to buy a used caliper in, hopefully, good condition.
Cheers, Mark

I certainly hope they have something to offer, as I've got 3 lined up to call in the morning!
Thanks for a good call!

Well I don't know if they're really so hard to find in the wider world but they are almost impossible to find in any AM establishment! Haven't we heard that before?? 😊

The exception was Brake Caliper Specialists who were decent enough to offer caliper refurbishment for about a hundred quid.
Many thanks for your input guys, it does help maintain a semblance of faith in humanity!
Cheers, Mark

A US company, Stoptech, does produce piston seals and dust boots that will fit Brembo calipers. All you need to know is the actual piston size in mm. They are usually in even number increments (32mm, 34mm, 36mm, etc.). I have used their seals in the past on the Brembo calipers used on Porsches from 1989 on. The earlier Brembo calipers use a scraper ring instead of a dust boot. All Brembo calipers from the DB7 on are the newer dust boot style.
I have ordered from Zeckhausen Racing here in the US. Their site is very good for finding cross reference for Stoptech part numbers and they ship quickly. On their site there is a quick link on the right to Brembo parts. Scroll down for caliper rebuild parts. Clicking on Aston Martin will not get you there.

I had similar problems with my Evora's AP racing calipers that use brembo seals apparently lotus will not let their subs like ap or brembo sell replacement parts and require them to refer you back to the dealer even though the parts are interchangeable and readily available(their cousins in Graydon probably have the same deal) . If you can get the size of the piston or if you're lucky enough when you pull it apart to have a part number on the seal or piston Hoerr racing HRPWorld.com can get just about every brembo replacement seal made.
