driving postion

Is it just me, or is it hard to get a really comfortable driving position in the V8Vs? When I get the arm position comfortable my legs are too close. When I get good leg positioning, my arms are too far away. I wish the steering column had more reach to it (it's all the way out for me). It's even more apparent when I get out of my BMW and into the Aston.
I'd consider myself a normal build, 6ft 200lbs.

I'm 6ft, 185lbs and I find the V8V to be very comfortable. It's one of the few cars I've driven where I don't have to move the seat all the way back to fit properly. My only complaint is that the door window opening is too high to comfortably rest your arm in the open window.

I had all the issues in both above posts.

I ended up choosing a seating position where I compromised on my legs being too close, and my arms not able to rest anywhere but my own legs haha

W126C is infamous around these parts
This is funny you bring this up. Right after I bought the DB9 and driving from Connecticut to Kansas, I could not get comfortable no matter what I did. Thinking the whole time, what the Hell did I just buy? It was somewhere in the middle of Ohio before the stars all aligned and I found the sweet spot. And of course, quickly set the memory button. I driven to Texas and back with no issues what so ever, just a great highway GT and fun in the twisties. Reference: 6'-2" 190 lbs.

So keep driving and adjusting the seat/wheel, you'll get it. Good luck.

Regards,

5'7" and 170 lbs. It took a long time and a lot of small, incremental adjustments to get the seat just right and so that I wouldn't have any lower back pains on long drives. Even then, I still get uncomfortable after a couple hours if I don't stop for a stretch. Maybe I'm just getting old :/

A number of people I've talked to have said that it took a while for them to get the seat positioned just right as well.

I'm 6'5" 210# with long legs and no car (other than german cars) are truly comfortable for me but the V8V is surprisingly quite fine, I do agree that I wish the steering column could come out more and the seat could have more adjustment but its not too bad

when I drive it, I feel like im sitting more upright than the seat is just so I can see better, so used to driving my Land Rover I guess that the being low thing is foreign to me

also I agree with the window being too high to put your arm up, thankfully the arm rest on the left side is at the perfect spot though

A bit over 6'2" and about 210 lbs here. I've never been happy with the seating ergonomics in the Vantage range. I just put up with it, but on long drives it can be quite painful. To be clear, my comments are reserved for the sport seats (I've never been able to try the lightweight seats, as thanks to stupid NA regulations, we are denied the option).

I agree with most of the above comments. I cannot find an optimal relationship between seat, steering wheel and pedals. I like to sit upright and relatively close to the wheel; if I recline further in an attempt to compromise, I cannot get the wheel close enough and my elbows are over extended.

I'd also add the following, which I find to be the case in almost every road car I have driven: I cannot get the seat low enough for my liking. I am tall, but my torso is not disproportionately long (my inseam is just over 34"). I appreciate that cars have to fit shorter people, too, but why can't manufacturers place their seats lower and increase the range of height adjustment? Ironically, the only exception to this rule is my Lotus Exige: a tiny car by modern standards but with a comfortable and very low set seat! No issues with long drives in that car, after the usual origami involved in getting through the door opening LOL.

Also, the Vantage seat is offset with respect to the pedals. It amazes me how many modern cars still suffer from this affliction. There is no excuse for that sort of lazy engineering and/or cost cutting!

I am the shortest one posted in this thread (5'5) and I suffer the same problem as all you tall folks, haha.

But I share with everyone who had issue is I like to be very close to the steering wheel, like the racing driving position. The lotus was by the most perfect seating position of all the cars I've owned.

Also regarding the pedal offset, of all the sports car I've owned they all had this issue (except Lotus). I have a Ferrari 430 now and it is so bad, even worse than the AM. Also the issue is even worse with regards to arm and leg position, if I get close enough to the wheel I might as well sit with my legs in my chest. Have to compromise with a good leg position and my arms extended like I am driving a van.

The nice part of the offset is that my left leg has plenty of room to work the clutch!!!

Say what you will about Lotus, they understand how to do a driver's car like no-one else.

I agree with the statement wholeheartedly. I had a 2005 Elise and also 2011 Evora, both cars were very comfortable once you were sitting in them. In regards to my Vantage's the 2007 I had was by far more uncomfortable than the 2016, the seats in my 2016 are Alcantara where in the 2007 they were all leather plus the seat design and comfort seems much different to me. I am 5'9" and 170 lbs.

Purchased mine used and when I hit memory button three the previous owner had the seat all the way back with the leading edge up and rear down. Felt like I was in the space shuttle waiting to lift off.

Same as above. Took a lot of tweaking to find a good spot for the lower back.

My seats have the stitching running right up the middle which gets a bit annoying on long drives.

Same thing with my Ferrari 328. The pedals are offset VERY far to the right - like if I extend my legs straight out ahead of the seat my right foot is on the clutch pedal - and the steering wheel is far away and darn near horizontal, like a city bus. You need long arms and short legs. If my 5'-4" wife moves the seat up close enough to reach the pedals, her forehead is an inch away from the windshield header. Which is nice for me because that means she won't ever drive it

Haha, well the steering wheel improved a bit. But the pedal offset is still as bad as yours, my left foot is obstructed by the wheel well, if I cut a hole in the bulge I can probably rest my foot on the tire lol
