Input needed for 07 vantage v8 4.3L
Well bought a 07 vantage, hoping for some insight on a few things.
What brake setup did we go with so there wasn't so much dust?
Did you get a tune? Sct handheld of ecu replacement?
Anybody straight piped on their exhaust?
Any and all recommended upgrades/modifications for longevity?
Thanks,
Pdenmark

they are pretty robust cars
the only weak link can be the clutch - all comes down to how you (and previous owners drive them). mine has 45,000km and is still the original & absolutely ok, some last 5,000km some 100,000km
other than that regular maintenance - change the engine oil, change the transaxle (gearbox) oil, let it warm up before you push it
usual stuff
welcome & good luck with the car

Paint 1 - fired after 2 weeks late and bad communication/never starting it.
Interior - 1 week to replace headline (sagged after 2 weeks of owning the car) Louis Vutton replacement (500 with authentic materials) cheaper than going with suede from AM or at the interior shop. (1600 from AM or 900 from shop)
Rim - 1 week for custom rims and color change (rained for 3 days when after they finished it)
Paint 2 - 7 days and should be free tomorrow
Reached out to my tuner for the 5.0 to see what he can do? He is researching it as well as a local shop who put in my sponsors parts and will be doing all the mechanic work on the AM due to trust and contract agreements on other business. Have you ever heard of a SCT handheld being used on a tune?
Any recommendations on brake upgrades for less dust?
Any items to be concerned with running straight pipes/no cats?
For less brake dust get Porterfield R4S brake pads. Rich at redpants.lol sells them. He even has a diy video on installing them. For the exhaust I have 200 cel cats, an X pipe and Quicksilver sport muffler. I had mine tuned by Eurocharge.
Congratulations on your Vantage. They are great cars, with yours having a new clutch you should be set for problem free ownership.

Thank you my friend. The dealer replaced the clutch prior to picking it up, feel good about that it's been at shops for 3/4 of the time I owned it. Will work with spec (sponsor on another car to replace once needed/ other items completed)

Roger that reached out to red pants for the oil change kit after initially trying to place order and shipping was 300$ lol. After a good laugh and few questions ordered. Shipping was 15.24.
I've got several mods on my 08 including tune, headers, cats, exhaust, brakes, etc. I'm also local, you can have a look at it and see the difference in power, etc. are you using anyone local for the suede install? I need some work on my leather...
Yes I have a guy. I'll message you my number. Should have the aston back tomorrow for a 4th of July cruise.
Porterfield R4-S is the way to go for dust-free and noise-free brake pads:

Definitely the most popular pad I sell and I'm a big fan!
You can run 200-cel cats without issue since the o2 sensors don't meter most of the catalyst material. Straight pipe is another issue, but happy to get into the pro/cons of that.
That headliner is wild, got any other pics? Is the LV pattern on other panels, too?
Default shipping option is the $350 flat rate for wheels until it knows the destination, then it can update with the 'real' options. I need to figure out a way to get that sorted out because I get a few emails each week about it!

For ECU tune go with Eurocharged. All companies now tune directly through the OBD2 port now, nobody actually removes the ECU anymore so most of them have a flash style handheld tuner.
For brake rotors, Brembos are by far the lightest option but also the most expensive. There are other 2piece rotors on the market for less but the weight savings are also less. I still recommend the brembos and running a less dusty pad.
For the earlier vantages, get the high flow cats plus X-pipe mid pipes, keep factory exhaust. HFC alone make the car a bit too loud at lower Rpms in my opinion. Both VAP and Fabspeed have great options, can't go wrong with either

I would go Velocity AP with your tune, especially if you plan on adding a bunch of mods prior to the tune. They did a custom tune for me given all of the modifications my car has.
Three largest transformations for me were the dual plate clutch with lightweight FW, 200 cell cats and headers. Make sure you listen to the sound of the car before putting in the X pipe. It's just my opinion but I believe it changes the sound of the car and not for the better. I much prefer the aggressive pops and bangs on overrun.
