Adding Front Parking sensors

It is my understanding that Front Parking Sensors were available as a factory option starting in 2009. My 09 roadster has the rear parking sensors but not the front sensors.

Does anyone know - especially those who may have had them added after purchase - if these cars are already equipped with the necessary factory wiring to allow front sensors to be installed?

No front sensors, no wiring harness. Although the module is the same but has to be programmed. Not worth doing as far as cost and involvement to me, I just don't park deep into spots with a curb, or back in.

You're probably better going with something like this:

I have concluded that I am horrible at figuring out where the front and back ends are. Sometimes I'm 3' away from the curb. I'm not trying to get close, but I'm not trying to look like I don't know how to park either. But bottom line is, I obviously don't know how to park!

Hi guys...just back into a parking space and use your rear sensors....lol
Actually the proper way to park in a parking space is to back in not pull front first...actual fact...
You can buy cheap sensors everywhere on the web and hook up...
Evening...

Old post being resurrected, but I seem to have the Parking Sensor button on my dash, but pushing it, nothing happens. It doesnt light up, turn on / off. Nothing beeps when I am close to a curb either, so im guessing a fuse? My front bumper has the sensors.

Thoughts on what to test to fix?

I'm not sure what you should check but if you have front sensors installed, it should not be too hard for the dealer to check it out.

Since my original post in 2017 about adding front parking sensor to my 2009 Roadster, I have found a sweet solution based on other posts on this forum. I purchased an add-on VBB unit from VolvoTech.eu that allows for two additional inputs to the (Volvo- based) factory GPS system. I installed a rear camera and a front camera that work perfectly. The rear camera comes on automatically when shifting into reverse. Ito activate the front camera, I installed a rocker switch inside the little trinket box (replacing the accessory power outlet) that allows me to switch between the GPS screen and the front camera. With both cameras configured to display parking lines, I can easily park without any concerns. I see at least one Aston dealer offers an integrated backup camera installation for $3500. My cost for both cameras $350 plus a few hours labor.

Honestly, the front sensors on my V12S are pretty worthless - I really cant tell from beep-beep-beep the dangerous distance from a curb - a camera would have been better (like the new C8 vette will have)

I have thet front sensors but installed front and rear cameras that can be viewed on the rear view mirror... very custom, looks OEM and fully reversible. I never use my nav screen

Going back to my questions, anyone technical enough to try and diagnose what would cause the parking sensors to not work or turn on? I have them in the bumper and the button on the dash, but nothing happens. No beeping, no light on the button, etc.

My first thought is a fuse, second thought the button is bad?

i own a 2007 vantage and oddly enough, when the parking assist button light is ON, the parking assist is OFF! and when the light is OFF the parking assist is ON. parking assist at that time (2006-2007) was somewhat new and so they had yet to determine what they wanted and for some odd reason they decided on a sort of "yes, we have no bananas" solution. of course the trouble is that every other button in the car (and practically every other car in existence!), save one, with a light, works such that the service provided by the button is active if the light is 'on'. go figure. they had similar difficulties with the traction control button too. when the light on the button is off the traction control is on. they had some weird guys in the ergonomics department BITD.

per the manual, it functions as designed... the light comes on when the function is changed from the default setting... for traction control, this is how it works for every vehicle I own

agreed....

i'm in the process of adding front parking sensors à la 2009 models. i have already ordered the updated (2008-9?) lower grill with the two mounting points for the sensors that i assume attaches in the same manner as the 2007 model. and have in my possession a kit with two sensors, a black box and some wiring. i plan on using a fuse tap inside the cabin that is switched from the ignition for power and route the wire through the firewall somewhere. the only other question i have is whether or not i need an additional switch to turn it off when i don't need it for parking. i suspect i will make that determination after a few trial runs. and decide yea or nay depending on whether or not i get too many false positives while driving around.

update sun jul 19, 2020: the parking assist black box is now installed in the cabin's fuse box, and the two sensor wires are threaded through the firewall to the front engine cover, but are too short. so i'm now waiting for the new grill AND two sensor extension cords.

looking to the future, i'm thinking that if i get too many false positives while driving around, i'll let the hazard light switch take one for the team so to speak and make it the 'front braking assist' off/on switch. i assume the factory solution was more elegant than an off/on switch.

update mon jul 27, 2020: new grill and mounting brackets(2) are in and the attachment points on the old and new grill are identical as expected. still waiting for the extension wires....
