DB9 - noise while driving

2015 DB9 ... while driving, there is some noise from the rear passenger side - like something metallic is dragging on the road. I don’t see anything falling down from the car. I didn’t notice any issue with the driving either. Nothing stuck between the wheels and arch either. Any thoughts? Thanks !

On my 2007, it was a loose window regulator. Could also be the door speaker, mine was a little loose also. Found it when my window regulator went bad and have not heard anything since.

BTW: Mine sounded like something metallic was inside my door towards the front part of the door, never found anything and when I tightened the speaker and put in the new regulator and but it back together, car has been quiet ever since.

Also, the interior door panel sits on 3 little posts and there is foam over the post which is taped on. Two of the posts had the either very little foam or none at all, I covered the posts in liquid rubber, so that could also be the cause of your noise.

Good luck finding the cause!!

Randy

Thank you very much. Coincidentally, for over 2 years I have been complaining about a metallic noise coming from the passenger side. AM didn't find anything and tightened window glass few times. I even asked them to check the regulator. Also, diagnosis showed 'Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (very small leak) - P0456'. I am scheduled to take the car for service next week to get it fixed and today this weird metallic noise.

Might be a rock trapped in your brakes. Try reversing a few times to dislodge it.

My 08 DB9 has developed a really LOUD metallic noise from the front left side. At first I thought something out of metal was dragging under the car (it's really loud). Stopped doing it for 2 months, and now it's started again. I can confirm it's coming from the front left brake. No idea what's causing it. It doesn't last long, but it is loud. People from a long way away will look over to see what that sound is (They probably have a chuckle when they see it's this fancy looking car making that racket).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Happened twice with my 2015 DB9. The second time I was able to record the noise. AM service said they never heard it before. Guessing it might be a stone trapped in brakes and fell out. Never happened again. But I still have my doubts.

Ok guys, lets do some investigating.

1. Have you recently washed the vehicle and not driven it, basically just put it in the garage.
2. Have you washed it multiple times and done the same due to dust or dirt accumulating.

I have had maybe the same out of my right rear likely brake caliper also. I mean sounded like metal dragging in reverse, also chirped at slow speeds.

I found that I had to reverse with parking brake on and also do a few hard stops before it quit.

I think it may be some type of rust build up that starts squealing in the calipers, but works its way out at some point. Thats why its isnt all the time. Mine hasn't done it in a long while now that I NEVER use my parking brake unless I have already driven the car and nothing is wet.

Hope this helps maybe a bit. Try running the cars in reverse, for those of you with front wheel issues, and then stabbing the brakes a few times. That might loosen or round out the sharper edges so it quits.

Worth the try

The sound of a stuck stone will cause you to break out in a cold sweat ! Happened to me some time back. Reverse for 5 feet and a hard stop worked.
