Thanks for the clue. I will try to pry it off this evening.

What is now the best cheap cap to use internals? I bought the Volvo mentioned above and have the emission light when I put that on. My Aston cap internals are not usable anymore.

The rover one looks good but is missing the position piece.

EAP is infamous around these parts
Correct, press-fit as described above. Just pry it off with a screwdriver or equivalent. As for parts, the Land Rover gas cap has every single piece you need i.e. all of the internals. You can use it instead of the Aston Martin cap if you want, works perfectly or you can swap all the pieces including the position piece you mention, which I assume is the bottom plastic piece with two horns at the ends (can't think of how else to describe it). But again, everything is there.

That’s worked great! Moved the Volvo internals in my Aston cap but the Cap doesn’ seal properly.

makes it a lot easier when you know how to do it.
I also ordered the LR3 cap from eBay.

Hey Zettinger....I bet you wish you did the trade of your wheel spacers for my gas cap when we talked in Florida at tech day...lol 😂

I hope you fix your gas cap problem as I know how much it bothered you.

Good luck...

Very helpfull information, thanks.

I worked on my filler cap today as the aluminium lid was very loose and "rattling" around.
I fixed that by dismantling and placing a 60.05x1.78mm NBR O-ring underneath the black press fit ring.
That O-ring is not a perfect match, so I cut it open - doesnt matter, as the black press fit ring has a cone on the outside, which fixes the O-ring.
It just needs to have the rope diameter to squeeze everything together gently.
Now the rattle is gone but the "torque-click" action still works.

Thomas
