If not, will any automatic trans fluid be acceptable?

 

Talked to dealer. Can't use Mercedes (too many minerals). Can use BMW, but AM says use CHF-115 PENTOSIN (Green Bottle). Funny name but dealer said lots of regular auto parts have on shelf.
Also coolant - Havoline Concentrate XLC also readily available.

You could likely use the Mercedes fluid to fill your blinker reservoir. This fluid type is fairly generic for that use and should not cause any harm

 

I would check Rich at redpants website as he has all the correct fuilds or ones that match exact or better...

I also thought under the sticky area it addresses all fuilds for our cars...

not to derail the thread but how do you flush out the old ps fluid without using a machine.

can you disconnect the return line and start the car or does the fluid squirt out too fast?

 

There is a service bulletin out for the Astons that don't have the Pentosin CHF-11S fluid as OEM (i.e. V8 Vantage up to C13358, DBS up to E01351 and DB9 up to A12418).

It details how to flush the old fluid out (Texaco Cold Climate) and I presume it would be the same for flushing any fluid from the PAS system.
There is an additive required when changing fluids to Pentosin; I'm curious if Redpants stocks the 50 ml of Lubrizol needed? [4G43-24-11082]

Sorry to revive this thread, but what did/would any of you use for a plug for the return port of the PAS reservoir (step 8)?

 

I would look for the same diameter hose, and put a bolt into it (maybe hose clamp to keep it from dripping).

Or, pick up a powdercoating plug kit - you could use the silicone plug to stick into the outlet.
