Tinted windows?

I have a V8V Roadster. I know it's all about preference but what are the opinions on tinted windows? Should they be tinted like any other auto. Does it matter it being a coupe or roadster.

I got mine tinted. Every single car I've had I've tinted the windows. I just think it completes the look of any car. I don't go too dark though - always 35% all around as I don't like that staggered look. Never had any trouble with the police *knock on wood*.

Thanks. Kentucky doesn't really enforce tint laws so all windows can be tinted.

I find tint on convertibles looks odd as I drive with the top down and side windows up often. Not so much light gets into the Vantage from the sides and back. If it's for security, then you got to do what you got to do....

Never thought of that. I agree the tint would look different with the top down & windows up. Thank you for the info.

For me it all depends on the color of the car. IMHO most blue cars look awful with tint. I am in a quandary----driving my father's now mine 92' Mustang 5.0 Conv in manual to Virginia next week to keep in my garage. It has zero tint. I dont like it but I do know any tint dark will look bad. All my cars are black usually so tint is perfect.

3M Cyrstaline tint is the best there is. VERY VERY expensive, but a 50% tint will give you the heat rejection of a 30-35% tint without the darkness.

Ceramic tint is your next best bet. Also if you dont know, they make clear tint for your front window for pure heat rejection. If you car spends much time outside, get it!!!!!!!!!!! If not then dont worry. Dont worry what it looks like with top down and windows up, you likely wont drive that much that way. Plus it looks goofy and make you look like a old person. LOL

It pays to have a good installer. Price shopping is ok, but price also dictates typically the experience level of the person, or how well they function doing the work. Remember water/soap is sprayed all over the glass inside the vehicle. A GOOD installer will use the minimal amount, possibly tape a towel on the door sill, and take care when applying. A cheap installer will just spray like any other car and finish his work. Now, dont worry about damage, there never is any due to the soap and water used, but it is helpful to have a cautious installer.

Hope this helps, ask me if you have any other questions.

Does the tint get damaged when replacing the annual inspection sticker?

Who makes the clear and how much will it cool it compared to regular tint of like 20%?

No clue. We don't have annual inspections in Florida.

Several companies make it. 3M is what is on mine. Nor sure of the spec but there is no glare or reduced visibility at night.

I think it would still look good. About 10 years ago my first car was a convertible Mustang that I had tinted. It looked pretty good. I likely won't find a picture anywhere or else I'd post it. I think tint looks good on anything. I recently got my Jeep Wrangler tinted and it looks amazing (to me at least).
