I know quite a few folks have installed various tunes on their Astons using system offered by Velocity AP. One of these just landed on my door... excited, but also curious what features people have incorporated in. My instruction sheet mentions Pops and Burble, Disable Eco Start/Stop, etc as examples - what experiences are you all having? I don't necessarily need blowing flames out the exhaust on decel or having quarter throttle position replace foot all the way down. Well ,maybe the flames. Heh.
I have a 2015 V8V GT that arrived in September with 4300 miles on it... no modifications yet, but looking at the VAP exhaust system, so for now car will remain stock with a tune.

If it were my car I'd disable the auto start stop in any way possible. Extremely annoying. I'm also not a fan of the popping on overrun. It was cool when Lamborghinis first did it, it stopped being cool when Fords and Hyundais started doing it. It was always a bit obnoxious. Hopefully you won't get flames, at least as long as you still have catalytic converters.

I wouldn't recommend the pops & burbles on a later model year car with stock headers & cats. Just for durability reasons.

My original tune had the burble and I ask them to get rid of it. They quickly sent a new file. Then it was perfect.

 

I will chime in with a question..
I have a 2011 V8 Vantage S with stock exhaust (stock everything).

Is there a way through the Velocity AP tune to make the cold startup quieter?
Then after startup - after the car "calms down" to return to normal operation?

I live in a "side load garage" subdivision and the Vantage is so loud at startup, that sometimes on weekends (during my 6:00 AM "Bagel Runs") I start the car with the garage door closed to try to minimize the chance of waking my neighbor.

I decided to go with the basic Stage 1 initial file without added burble for now.
Depending on the parts/supplier and desired scenarios will need to consider the $300USD fee for file changes.

So, this is somewhat possible. We can command the exhaust valves to close, the are controlled by solenoid which is controlled by the ECU, however they are actually operated by vacuum, which pulls the valves closed (they are open in default position with no vacuum applied.)

Since the vacuum is provided by a vacuum pump, whether they are closed on startup *immediately* is dependent on enough vacuum still being present in the system. Some loss will occur as it sits. So for example, let's say you went to start the car and it's been sitting for two weeks. If we command the valves to shut, and you get in and start the car as normal, it might take 3, 4 seconds for the vacuum to build to 1 bar and close the valves. However, since it's electric, if you hopped in - switched on the ignition for say 5 seconds without starting the engine, and THEN start the car, yes it would stay closed.
