So I got to the point I wanted to update the maps in my 2012 V8VS with the Garmin system. Didn't want to take it to the dealer and pay the big $$$s so I ordered a new SD card from Garmin (this one https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/1456/pn/010-11551-00 to be exact)

I plugged it into the GPS module behind the removable panel on the drivers side (US Version) of the trunk. Started up the GPS and it's still showing the old maps. Am I needing to do something else to get this thing going? Or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer if I want updated maps?

If you have multiple maps on your SatNav (I presume the original is there and now the additional updated one on the SD Card), then you should see them listed in the MapInfo section. Click Settings, then Map, then Info. You should see your new maps there if they are compatible and, if so, ensure there is a tick in the box next to them.

 

Their information is misleading, that SD card is for local updated businesses as it has this message at the bottom.

This is not a map update. If you need to update your preloaded map, visit www.garmin.com/updatemaps.

 

I'll be interested to know how to update my maps too, I get Maps update message on screen.
