New to aston some service questions
Happy to be here. Lots of great information. Been reading for hours. Just picked up a 2015 Vantage GT with 19,500 miles. The car has several service items I need to address. The car had been sitting for a while and barely driven the past four years so I agreed to purchase it as is. I am pretty handy and have a lift available to me. So here are the issues.
1. The engine has a clicking noise. I have read various threads on this. What I know is this car brought into service at Aston in November of 2016 while still under warranty. The customer complained about the same noise. At that time the car had 18,700 miles on it, now it has 19,500. The service notes that the customer complained about ticking noise in the engine. Tech looked at it and says needs further diagnosis however customer declines at this time. What is weird is the car was still under warranty at this time. I made a video and will try to upload on youtube and post link.
2. Check engine light is on as well as service emission system. I read multiple threads on this, some people say it will eventually cycle off or bad O2 sensor. Before I do that I want to share the codes we got on the OB2 reader.
First was P0016 crankshaft position correlation - bank 1 sensor A
Second was P0018 crankshaft position correlation - bank 2 sensor A
P1572 Brake pedal sensor out of self test range
I heard this can be related to sensors as well but not 100 percent sure.
Lastly, is the electronics
The Navigation works but there is no sound, none of the audio buttons seem to anything except the button to change bass and tone settings. I am not able to pair phone, or put FM or am radio on. When you push the power button the screen lights up like its turning on but does not do anything,
Any feedback appreciated. I am looking forward to getting these bugs sorted out.

When my audio system stopped working, it turned out it was a bad XmSirius module. All the audio components are in a serial loop, so something that goes bad can drag the whole system down.

I would reset the OBD2 (which in some cars will happen when you pull the battery). I have come to appreciate my Foxwell 520 OBD tool. If they come back you can track them down.
And, finally, who knows on the ticking sound. Could be almost anything. The cheap thing is a sticking lifter. Modern cars/modern oils don't run detergents as the catalytic converters don't appreciate it. But, a can of Sea Foam oil treatment cured a friend's Porsche like a new motor. Really surprised me that something old school would work so well. I wouldn't hesitate to dump a can in and run it for a while. In his case it was while we were standing there closing up the engine bay.
Can't help you with the stereo. I would think that your throttle pedal would eliminate the need for a stereo.
As always, YMMV and have fun!
Hi there, Duane, I seem to be experiencing a very similar issue with my vantage v8. Have a bunch of CELs: P0016, P0018, P0022, P0300, P0302, P0308, P0316. Were you able to solve your issue? If so, could you share your knowledge as I’ve seem to have hit a roadblock here. Thank you!
