Tail Light Repair?

Anyone have a source for repair of a non functioning brake light in the sealed tail light unit? Don’t feel like shelling out for a new cluster if I can avoid it.

I had to get a used one off ebay... you cant really fix those LED’s. And replacing them with aftermarket is even more...

one of the worst replacement parts on the AM...

I have condensation in mine, and though they're still functional at the moment I'm prepared for them to fail. I looked around for repair services and found these guys (Divinatech).

Having said all that, the dealer told me that despite my car having the CPO timeless warranty, the headlights and taillights were not covered for condensation damage. Is this true, or is the dealer full of it?

Note: I have not used that vendor, and as I have no idea if they're either competent or legitimate I'm not endorsing them.

Yes, the condensation in the rear tail lights is common... not good at all but it happens to these lights... these lights fixings have no rubber seal for moisture. Have you seen one open? I can share a pic of the inside.... they are very easy to remove...

AM dealerships do stay away from the moisture issue...

I’ve heard of Divinatech, thanks for the reminder. I bought from them some time ago when they had just started as a hobby-based business. I’ll check it out.

unless and until i found a DIY article or video describing a better method and before spending a dime on an expensive replacement, i would drill a small hole somewhere inconspicuous and put it in a warm place for a few days. if that didn't work, i would drill another hole and place a hair dryer over one hole and run it for a day or two. if it drys things out i'd put a drop of super glue over each hole and see how things go. if it didn't work? well, i've sacrificed a week or two's time and next to nothing money-wise. and i still have a worthless taillight.

...now that i think about it, i recall a DIY project (youtube?) where the lens was removed using a micro-wave oven or something...looked awfully complicated.

I believe if your lights fail they would be covered under the warranty.
Dealers have a lot of leeway on this issue. My dealer has replaced mine three times for condensation...no charge.
Thanks,
JH

I have a complete functioning left light, and a disassembled right one; the problem with it is the control 'module' which has an internal fault. The LED array is fully functional. Fits '06 to '09 Vantages; not sure what else?

I, too have had a supportive dealership. Old V8V unit replaced under warranty. Also had a V!2V unit resealed and repositioned / remounted out of warranty, no charge, with no recurrence of condensation. As you say I think they have a lot of wiggle room on issues like this.
