i did something similar... have a marine 12v outlet under the grill area

Note to other owners: I've been through this issue and I've found the primary culprit. In the US, our cars don't have the same subscription-based trackers that they have in Europe, but we do have alarm modules that have their own batteries in them. The batteries are not replaceable, and they're only designed to last about 7 years. If your Aston is older than that (like my '09), the alarm module's battery is probably past its service life and the module itself is now drawing its power from the car's main battery when the car is off and locked. This will cause the battery to die in days instead of weeks (even with my brand new AGM battery).

My temporary solution is to leave the car unlocked when it's parked in my garage and only lock it when I'm out driving and stop somewhere. This has proven successful so far; I can leave it alone for two weeks or more in my garage.

Ultimately, the alarm module must be replaced. The part costs around $400 and there are different models for different VINs, so make sure you're getting the right one. I'm not sure what will need to be done in terms of electronics/programming, but I plan to fix this issue during the winter. Will update when it's done.

When you do replace it would be interesting to crack open the old one and see what the battery really is.

It is highly unlikely that it is really an AM custom battery, probably just a standard pack like used in a cordless phone or some such that could be sourced elsewhere for cheap.

i've already permanently disabled my TPMS and brake pad alarm gizmos and would like to do the same to about 20 other unnecessary, IMO, electronic whistles and bells like the alarm system.

BTW, before everyone jumps on me...imagine that i live on my own private 1000 acre island in the middle of the Mediterranean and have no need for it.

I plan to do exactly that. If it's something like a Panasonic handheld phone battery and it's easy to replace I'm going to do so. I've been told you can't open it and replace the battery but I have my doubts.

Expect a writeup on it in the next few months.

Just so I’m clear on this, if my battery goes dead and I use the metal key in the door lock, I still will not be able to open the doors due to the windows not lowering?

If the above is true, is the metal key only useful if you misplaced your ECU/Key and need to get into your vehicle that has a charged battery?

Thanking you in advance.

I think the window rise function tightens the seal between the rubber seal and the glass... you should still be able to open the door without the glass drop... Although... I've never done it

The metal key is intended for accessing the car with a dead battery. You will still be able to open the door without the window drop, just be careful. Don't slam it closed or you might chip or crack the window. As soon as you replace the car's main battery you'll need to do the window re-learn procedure. Others have covered this in detail in multiple threads.
