Porterfield front pads

2014 V8 Vantage two versions of R4S six piston front pad available, same price, Aston says AP1990 pads while several independent Aston vendors offer the AP1291 pads. Apparently the same pad material but different dimensions. Both fit.....which is best or does it matter in the end for a road use only Vantage not pushed too hard.

AP1990

AP1291

61mga is infamous around these parts
looks like maybe one of each will allow the pad wear monitors to be mounted correctly on either side of the car. they need to be mirror images of one another to mount the pad wear monitors properly on the 2007 vantage calipers, both front and rear. but most, if not all non-OEM pads are identical. sooooo on one side of the car the wire leads to the pad wear monitors won't fit (wire is too short) the cast-in support claw.

Additionally, the 1291 pads use a thinner brake material so will run hotter and not last as long. Also, you may find the additional depth of the pad runs off the edge of the disc friction face.
