Brake Pads

Okay, I did a quick search and didn't find anything so I'll start a new thread.

I have a 07 Vantage that needs new front brake pads and I assume sensor/cable. I am wanting to go with low dust and low/squeal. Any thoughts on where to purchase or should I just pay the $500 for Aston Martin pads?

Thanks!

Didn't search very hard, huh?

Porterfield R4-S are what you want. You can get the sensors from a local dealer or from Redpants.lol. For what it's worth, I tied mine out of the way because I check my brakes frequently and don't need my car telling me when the pads are low... good way to save some money.

As mentioned above, many of us use the porterfields. I think they perform excellently on my Vantage for street use.

Another for Porterfields. Have had them on my 2007 V8V for about a year. Perform well for street use and minimal dust.

Porterfields, but, you will notice a difference in performance from the original pads. It's a trade off, far less dust for less bite. If you drive it long enough you'll realize it's a good trade.

Less bite on the Porterfield? Bummer, the oems don’t even seem like they perform all that well. They are just ok imo.

I have not experienced less bite when I changed out my OEM pads for porterfield. im not aggressive in my Aston...I save my aggression for my BMW

From Rich when I ordered my pads

The R4-S will have a little less initial bite, and it's something that honestly took me a little getting used to but the tradeoffs were worth it in the end for a street pad. Once I got used to it, I found them a little easier to modulate during light braking. The real benefit was the lack of noise and dust, and that's what ultimately got me to give them the thumbs up. If you're tracking the car, you may outdo the R4-S pads in heavy braking zones, but it isn't an issue for street driving.

The HPS 5.0 will be closer to the OEM pads. You'll get much less noise and a little less dust than OEM, but they're still dusty (far more dusty than the R4-S). They don't support the rear brake pad wear sensors, so keep that in mind.

This is a factual trade-off with brake pads. They literally work by friction; you will either have a lot of stopping power, dust, and noise, or less dust, noise, and stopping power.

I use R4-S on the street and swap in R4 when I do track days.

I'm not really happy with the DB9 OEM pads. I feel like my XJ VDP has better brakes. What would you guys recommend for a more aggressive pad compared to OEM. I don't care about noise or dust. I care only about stopping distance.

Porterfield R4S pads you can get them from Rich at Redpants. Just about no dust and quite and stop very good. I’ve had them on two different Vantages and have been very happy with them. Rich even has a diy video on his website.
