I'm about to buy a new set of tires for my '09 V8 Vantage and I need some advice.
I've been leaning toward Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's, but I've also heard good things about the Continental ExtremeContact Sport. Tire Rack rates the PS4S slightly higher. I need a tire that's going to give me excellent performance but with a sidewall that won't get destroyed if I happen to come across a stereotypical Pennsylvania pothole (I really need to move to a state with better roads).
Can someone who's had both tires weigh in? Is a set of PS4S's worth the $230 premium over the Conti's?
For reference, I'm putting them on a set of Vantage GT wheels, in sizes 245/40-19 and 285/35-19.
Thanks in advance.
Quick edit: I'm also curious if anyone knows whether it's safe to do wheel repair on forged aluminum wheels... the tires on the 20" HRE's that are on the car have thin sidewalls and, as I feared, I bent at least one. I don't feel right about selling a set of wheels if one is bent. Any recommendations on wheel repair companies?

I had the same question a few weeks ago and decided after many recommendations on the Michelin Pilot Sport. However they were not available as a full set, Tire Rack only having 1 front tire and the local Dealer not carrying them in stock. Second choice and the tires fitted were Continental Extreme Contact Sport and after about 600 miles they are performing nicely on freeway and 2 lane driving; familiar corners are 5+ mph faster, the ride smoother and quieter.
In fairness they are being compared to the original OM Continental tires that were showing signs of tire rot on the inside tread while having plenty of tread life left.
I had the Conti's on my Vantage and thought they were nice tires. Sidewall had some stiffness, so maybe a good choice to for PA? The PS4S seems to be the en vogue tire at the moment.
I've Had them all, Don.t Do Conti's, I Just Put Super Sports On Gt Wheels on my 06, I Went 255 & 295, Perfect Fit & Strong Sidewalls, 27.1'' Rear (1900lb) & 26'' Front (1500lb), Not Too wide & the Gap is now a little more in the Front Instead of the Rear....
They Actually Weighed Less than the Stock Potenza's 235 & 275 by Several lbs.
Pic right after I had Mounted, was waiting on New caps From UK.

How far off is your speedometer calibration with the 255's and 295's on the car?
Thanks for asking this! I am in the same boat and was just looking at the different options. I have PS4s on there now but wanted to hear other people's opinions.
In that case I think I will go with the 255/295 setup, since I like the look of a wider tire. But I'm going to use a 40 series sidewall on the front instead of a 35. They'll end up the exact same circumference as the rears that way.
I've been doing a lot of independent research on other sites and decided to go with the Michelin PS4S's over the Continentals. Thanks for all the replies and opinions, folks!
Fun note for anyone else in the northeast US: Tire Rack has free shipping, but they'll give you a discount if you pick up from their distribution center. The discount may or may not cover the cost of fuel to retrieve them but, in my case, the closest distribution center is only an hour away, in Delaware, which has no sales tax. So I'll save $40 on the purchase and another $80 on the tax. I think that's worth a little road trip in my daily driver.
I thought about that, But think it's a Little too Tall for Front & You'll get a gap in Back rather than front, I measured Everywhere & think the Stance is Perfect with mine. But I still want Stock Suspension(for now)
Put up pics when Done.
Coming from a Pretty long Porsche background (sell Air-Cooled for a Living) I had Many Water cooled, I always set up a slightly Taller in Rear, just my Preference, Points the Car just slightly down.

Be advised a wider "looking" tire is going to result in a more harsh ride than the skinnier tire.

My local AM dealer matches Tire Rack prices; probably the same for most dealers?

That hasn't been my experience. Every quote I've gotten in my area was significantly higher. Though, to be fair, I haven't asked an Aston dealer because I'd have a multi-hour drive to get to one.
If you decide to go with Michelin PS 4S, I have brand new set of 265/35/19 (2) & 295/30/19 (2) bought it for my M3 car, but end up using different wheels with different size tires.
