Mirroring device on DB9

I know this is a looooooooooong shot, but does anyone know if you can use a mirroring device to connect your smartphone to the, pretty much useless, Nav screen? Sort of like a poor man's Android play?
I've considered looking at a screen retrofit as described elsewhere in this forum but I don't have the smarts, or the funds to get someone else to do it (nor do I think anyone near me could do it)
Cheers

why would you want to do this? you still need your smart phone connected anyway...

the sat nav screen is worthless...poor location, poor viewing angle, poor resolution, no touchscreen...

get a vent mount for your phone and focus on getting your phone connected to the car. several ways under couple hundred bucks or less

Huh? I get into my crappy old Holden Commodore and plug my phone into a usb port and it charges, makes/receives calls, shows Google maps on the screen, plays Amazon music etc, that's why. As I said, I know it's a long shot but no harm in asking. I don't really want my DB9 to look like an Uber car (with a phone mounted on the vent)

As for Aston installations, little bit far from me, I'm in Western Australia

You can DIY ... contact James aka Q at Aston Installations. I installed myself with James's help remotely.

You might look at NavTool and Naviks. I have no personal experience with either but they do offer mirroring solutions.

so where do you mount your phone so you can use it in the car? you still need to use its touch screen to do anything...

You said you were short on funds to install... if you want screen mirroring, you still need to connect audio to the car as well. my only suggestion was to first figure out how to connect your phone to your car.

Android Wave

I installed a Denison gateway from aston installations with their video interface with front and rear cameras in my 2008 DB9. Its really good and works great with the existing controls and screen. Phone integration is simple, just plug in.
I am in Perth if that helps

Thanks very much all for the replies, as suspected (and being an AM) there is no cheap way out (when I say cheap I mean sub 1k). I guess I'll start saving then

Thanks Trev, not sure how long you need to be a member til you can PM, I had a quick look around the forum but no luck. Maybe one of the other members can help with that info (when you can PM)

i installed front and rear cameras, video rear view mirror, Bovee for bluetooth and Amazon Alexa for complete voice control. I can stream Amazon music, Spotify, pandora, use all my music on phone, navigation with Waze Google maps, e.t.c.

likely have about $500 in equipment in the whole setup. unlike your desire to use nav screen, I've bypassed it and never use it. I don't mind my phone mounted, as it's convenient to access for touch screen use.

I also mount my phone this way in my MB GLE AMG even though it's set up for proper android auto with hi def touch screen...

good luck with your mods... lots of sources, including piston heads site
