Just wanted to post this up for anyone contemplating the dual disc set ups. I bought the AMR kit and have had some interesting discoveries.
Install was straight forward. It uses the Audi R8 clutch pack, custom throw out bearing plus a lightened flywheel. Includes all bolts needed as well. You will need to order a pilot bearing.
Initial impression after install is the same as others, engine is far more snappy and happy to rev. Clutch is almost too light for me. I like more feedback. I am sure it is something you get used to. Sadly I have not been able to put enough miles on it to have a final verdict, TOB failed quickly before 200 mile break in period was done.
Scuderia got with AMR and they are replacing the kit under warranty even though I had an Indy install. I am out a little labor, as they would not cover that, as I anticipated. First, bravo to the great service! Second, I found it odd to replace the entire kit and not just send a new throw out bearing. This is what I learned when I asked. The TOB, flywheel and clutch pack do not have individual inventory numbers and can not be ordered except as a total kit. Granted you may be able to source the clutch pack from Audi? I am glad I decided not to install myself due to lack of time. I had to send sell my Indy as qualified being a 19 year Porsche Master Tech, who also worked on Lambos and Astons. Scuderia went to bat with AM and got approval. They are great to deal with.
Food for thought, if the VAP kit allows ordering of individual parts it may be a better choice for those that plan on keeping their Vantages long term and put some miles on yearly. For a weekend warrior this may not be an issue as a new clutch could last your entire ownership and then some.
Compared to the V8 TOB, they kit unit is about 1/8" taller, all of it being in the bearing cap. The cap is also more rounded with less contact area between the edge and fingers than on the V8. It;s also different from the V12 version. Guessing the simply added a new cap to the V8 TOB to take up slack needed for actuation and also fit the R8 finger pattern. Pic below showing my old V8 TOB (Slightly rusted on top) and new TOB.
The clutch pack is similar to the R8 & Ferrari/Maserati version but is not exactly the same. Aside from the R8 version coming with ring gear attached there are some internal differences in the spring mechanism.

Thanks for the clarity Stuart! New clutch arrived today. Should be back on the road this weekend.
How does the AMR dual clutch compare to the VAP? I am looking at a low mileage v8v and thinking about what upgrades I will be doing (trying to stay all genuine AM parts)

Do the differences make it incompatible with the car or is this a viable replacement when the AMR clutch wears out?
