Hi..just to be clear...clutch was replaced as part of new engine install...just to be sure the interface between engine/clutch were pristine.
No warranty ...even original manufacturers' warranty ....covers wear items such as clutch, brakes, and tires, etc.
Thanks,

I bought my Vantage new. Never did use the warranty. I talked to the dealer about extending it. Thought an additional $500 inspection fee for my car that was at the dealer for it's service ($2000), was fing ridiculous. Plus another $2500 per year for the warranty. Unless there is catastrophic engine failure or something like that it's not worth it. I prefer to save the money and self insure.

My dealer said he'd discount the inspection if I wanted the warranty if done during my annual service. The car is at the dealership at least twice a year as it is. I thought about getting it, but he did not give the warranty a hard push and said they've had good luck with the Rapide being reliable. So far he has been right on that.

That's what I didn't like. They knew my car, it was in for it's service at the time, but he said no, he could not wave the inspection fee. Ironically I did get an email several weeks later that they would wave the fee. But I had already decided not to extend the warranty. So as of now I saved $7500.

Why not replace them with BC coil overs? Adjustable damping and height for a fraction of the price. ($1300). Any indy should be able to install them for $5-600 (4-5 hours). I don’t get the dealers insane prices.

I paid about 8500 for two additional years for the already certified/ timeless vanquish I bought last month.

I was under the impression that Bilstein produces a 'not easy to find the part number for' shock that can play nice with the earlier Vantage? I seem to recall a thread discussing that a while ago.

The reason is that these are part of the fancy ADS system that is installed on the Virages - that's what makes the shock & strut assembly so expensive. I found this out as I was researching it all.

It's 10k including labor - Scuderia sells these assemblies for about $1600 each, so the dealer is not outrageous actually (as it turns out).

Anyway, i went ahead and authorized it because I do want the extended warranty and that one the only item they found on the car that would preclude me from getting it.

For anyone looking for a data point: I was able to negotiate down the cost of the warranty to $10K for 2 years.

Hell yea......I'm willing to junk the whole car if something catastrophic happens. I wouldn't pay that......It's extortion!

In the end, it's your car and sounds like you got what you wanted. Congratulations on your new car! Only thing needed now is seat time.

Indeed!

I am picking it up tomorrow morning from the dealer following the service/shocks/BT upgrade... and with that warranty in place, you can bet I will be driving up a storm!

Yaknow... I have been driving this baby everywhere since I got it back... and those shocks do make a difference, so they probably did need to be replaced.

What a joy it is to drive! and I do get comments regularly from strangers about how beautiful it is, which is a fun element I had not considered when I bought it... and yeah, I admit to enjoying it even though I get it's totally vain. I was parked the other day in front of a coffee shop sipping my cappuccino and this kid came by to look at it... I opened the door for him to peer inside and he was just so googly-eyed, it reminded me of myself as a kid who was obsessed with these kinds of cars.
