Question Powertrain control module repair options???

I'm working on a 07 DB9 and it appears to have been reverse jumped when the battery died. This has damaged the powertrain control module and i'm looking for repair options. Does anyone know anyone that repairs these modules? I'd also settle for a used one if I could find one...

TIA, any help is appreciated!

Can you share diagnosis? The modules are pretty forgiving and have protection. A few on Ebay recently. Definitely need a dealer to program regardless.

Some background...

I run a hot rod shop and we have some higher end cars and exotics here as well. One of our guys took the car to get gas and it wouldn't restart. He called another coworker for assistance and between the two of them I think they backwards jumped the battery. We towed it back to our shop and tried to diag but we couldn't communicate with anything using an autel maxisys elite (which usually does pretty good for us). From there we sent it to the dealer with all of the information we could possibly give. The diagnosed as backwards jump fried the powertrain control module, possibly more, need to replace the pcm and program to start with and the quote was something paltry like $9k. Having to keep costs as under control as possible so we stand a chance of turning the car without losing a pile of money has caused me to look for repair options. I've had success with having control module repairs done on other vehicles for other problems so i figured someone might work on Aston Martin control modules but after searching and searching I have yet to find someone. HELP!!!

Samcrac featured a company named Specialized ECU Repair for a Ferrari he was (still is) fixing with great results. I am not sure they work on Astons but may be worth a call.

ecudoctors.com

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I remember watching samcracc mess around with that Ferrari but I never even thought about seeing if Specialized could fix it. Sadly - they wont . The saga continues. I suppose I at least got some good info out of the phone call. The guy i talked to told me to replace it based on the backwards jump. He said its toast.

Ugh. Too bad they can’t fix them. When I saw they worked on Jags I thought they may be an option.

If there is a chance that a used module can be reprogrammed to the VIN, you may want to give car-parts.com a try. It’s a site where salvage yards post their inventory and I have found quite a bit of stuff there.

There’s 2 PCMs in a DB9. Are they both fried? They are Ford based units. See if a place that repairs Ford ECUs will look at them.

Since there are two, and the V12 is based on two V6s welded together, could it be that the engine ECUs are from a Ford V6? For instance, with connecting a generic code reader, it shows up as a Ford Escort or similar....Anyone have a picture of the ECU showing model numbers or similar?
