DBS V12 Tyre Size Increase

Hi All

Has anyone gone a plus size tyre choice on their AM?

Factory on my DBS is 245/35/20 & 295/30/20 but they look small on the stock rims, literally no rubber past the rim face, almost stretched. They feel hard on factory pressures, possibly the P Zero brand, and I expect a little more rubber to increase rolling diameter slightly will help ride comfort and fatter rears increase grip.

Im thinking of going up a size on front and rear, 255 or 265/35 front and 305/30 on the rear, anyone gone this route?

Thanks

Carl

I also been looking for better grip but I’m not sure wider rear tires will help that much as it’s going to spread the weight on a bigger surface. I wonder if my tires are not warm enough to get traction when they break away.

Im thinking a slightly larger tyre will increase ride comfort too?

It may be that the tyres on mine are shot, which adds to the lack of grip and harsh ride, so a new and slightly larger rolling circumference will tick both boxes, I think?

I have 305/30 on the rear and 255/35 on the front without any problems. Cannot really comment on grip because I swapped from 19" wheels.

Sorry, cannot post pics for some reason, however small I make the files, they all freeze at 90%!!

You can definitely go wider, someone on here ran a 355 rear on their DBS with a 21x13” wheel.
The limiting factor is going to be your wheel width. At 11” you may be able to get up to a 315 on there but might have to lower the sidewall height one series in addition.

Thanks guys.

Those 255 & 305 tyres look like they fit properly not like the 245 & 295 factory spec which look skinny on the rims.

if looking for more distance between the edge of the rim and the tread of the tire (sidewall height), you need to look for a higher aspect ratio, not, necessarily, a wider tread.

That’s what I did. 245x40 and 285x35, F and R. Fills out the wheel well.

A lot of the newer models have noticeably bigger tyres than the older cars, was at the main dealer today and they all sat on more rubber, probably to help ride quality.

Will look at both scenarios, wider or bigger profile, or both?

Thanks

When I bought my DB9 in 2018 it had the original tires from 2006 mounted (that my friends is known as a "tell")...

I found a set of Pirellis on craigslist that a Corvette owner had bought, mounted and then realized they didn't fit. It was such a good fire sale that I took the chance on them. I'm really glad they did as they fit great and they are "one size taller" which gives a bit of cushion.
I'm running 245/45R19 on the front, 275/40/R19 on the rear.

Best
Larry

Tyre calculators indicate that going up one size is width is better than one size in height, in terms of % variation from OE spec.

Very true - I was trying to get some additional height to protect my rims from the terrible roads in the DMV. My speedometer is off, but I can mentally adjust for that. And besides, driving on the DC beltway is like the last lap of the Indy 500...

Roads are really bad here in the UK too, more rubber will cushion the imperfections but my tyres are old and probably hard too now, which makes every bad surface really bad.

I am also looking to go with a thicker sidewall. While I am changing the tires I'm thinking if going one size wider as well so the tire has a squarer look on the rim rather than looking like its being stretched out

Has anyone tried this set-up on a DB9, or DBS without any rubbing issues?
- Front: 255/40/20
- Rear: 305/35/20
