Aston Martin DBS ambient temp sensor
Aston Martin DBS ambient temp sensor
I replaced the ambient temp sensor on my Aston Martin DBS because it was showing 70 degrees celcius (outdoor temp was ~20 degrees C) however, it's now reading -7 degrees C, accompanied by an ice warning in the dash! Has anyone else faced a similar problem? Upon installation it was showing -11 degrees C so I'm not sure what to make of it.
It takes time to acclimate its a slow read, not instant. The magic is in the center console module not the sensor itself as its trying to average the temp reading. Either wait it out or you could try a battery disconnect.
Thanks, I had a tiny inkling that may have been a possibility but disregarded as it sounded too simple! All good then, not rushed so no need to reset via battery disconnect.
I changed the one on my Virage shortly after I bought it as it was under reading by 3-4 degrees C. The new one registered correctly within a few minutes of changing it.
It over reads by a degree or two but that encourages the air-con to put out colder air sooner which is good as I wasn't overly impressed with the system, even after a re-gas!
After a bit of research I bought this one from Ali Express as they are apparently the same part so thought it worth a try for less than NZ$10:

They're actually identical parts, just different part numbers/codes but all good - also couldn't afford the delay for OEM shipping

A trap for novices: although the Vantage temp sensors look and attach identically, I can confirm the GE sensor (cross reference 0775005191 used in Land Rover, Rover, Toyota, Lexus and Mitsubishi) won't work on the DBS. I bit the bullet and ordered an OEM part from Scuderia Car Parts which worked immediately upon installation. Lesson learned!
I am having a P0072 code for my ambient temp sensor "The ambient air temperature sensor circuit low input signal is detected", and the reading is 2.4 V.
When I disconnect it, the reading is 5V.
I ordered a Toyota 88790-22131 sensor, plugged it in, voltage is again 2.4 V.
The display though is showing a pretty accurate temp value...
What should be the proper voltage reading for this sensor?
Thank you.

The code can set at any time, you probably would not notice when it happened. Ru the new sensor with clearing the code an see what happens. 5v reference signal and that voltage drops depending on the sensor temp. NTC, Negative Temperature Coefficient is what it's referring to. So 2.4v is basically middle of range I believe it's working correctly unless the temp. Is -20* or 130* outside.
