AM V8V key FOB slot will occasionally not turn red with key to crank

2010 V8 Vantage with Automated Manual (Sportshift). 21K miles

Question:
What are some of the possible reasons that the ignition FOB will not illuminate the switch slot red and crank car? Is the brake switch an input to cranking? And even though the brake lights are on, is there a "second contact" on the switch for cranking the engine? Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes some tries again and again to get the car to crank. Battery is brand new and kept on tender. Key FOB battery replaced. all connections have been checked, cleaned and dielectric greased. No codes set as checked with my Foxwell 530 scan tool. I am suspicious of the brake switch on the brake pedal assembly. If I hold brake firm, rear brake lamps on, car will not crank. If I release some of pressure on brake pedal, brake lamps still on, car will likely start...

If you have aftermarket floor mats...mine has occasionally not illuminated because the mat has crept up and precludes the pedal from depressing far enough, or interfered with the pedal switch, which did not allow the start button to illuminate.. The dealer and I went through some trouble shooting efforts before I realized what was happening.

Thank you for the reply regarding the floormats. I do not have any mats in the car. Checked pedal travel and there stopping the pedal from full travel. Will keep searching...
