Hey all,
Do any of you manual transmission guys run a different or aftermarket shift ****? It's for my V8V, and although I like the style of the V12 one, I can't fathom $1500 for a ****. Thanks!
I don't, but that is a great idea! Do you know what thread it is? In my youth I had a spare piston from a dirt bike as my shift ****. Now you have me thinking of turning a custom **** from wood on my lathe...
No threads involved with mounting. It's like a 90* spring cam lock. You could use an OEM one as a base to build one perhaps?
Push downwards firmly and rotate counter clockwise to release. Or buy a used lever assembly and cut threads for a screw on.

Never liked the OEM shift **** on my V8 from day one. Thought about making custom, but found deal on brand new V12 ****,( back in 2015, I think paid very close 1K) snatched it, It's way better than oem Ford probe ****.... I think new gen vantage **** is far worst than our cars..
Shifter assembly and **** is Volvo sourced. There's a limited aftermarket source for replacement ones. I have seen one that does a nice carbon Alcantara though.
The V12 shift **** on sale, and even at regular price, is totally worth it. Excellent quality and shift feel that fits with the Aston driving experience.

I purchased an alloy **** from a bespoke aftermarket source called "Sarah Menard". I'd never seen or heard of the brand until I stumbled across a listing on eBay and I just couldn't pass it up. It's been sitting in the fancy little box it arrived in for the past several years.
This installs exactly like the OEM leather, Alcantara or alloy ***** do.
These photos are exactly how it arrived. Anyone have any info?
You just swap the boot; no big deal to do. Sarah Maynard designed the interior of the DB9 and Vantage. She then started her own company making bespoke replacements for various Aston interior parts like control *****, center panels, shift *****, etc. Stuff was pretty expensive. I think she was only in business for a couple years, IIANM. Some of the items were a little strange and I remember thinking they just wouldn’t ‘fit’ in a 9 or Vantage.
Yes the Menard shift **** will accept the standard leather cuff. The shape and dimensions of it are identical to the OEM shift handles.
It looks much better with a boot installed. I have never seen another one of these but I'm sure there were a few manufactured.
I believe Sarah was the interior designer of the V8 Vantage. After she left AM she designed your shift **** and other control pieces for sale in the UK aftermarket.
