Insert Key Messages
Insert Key Messages
Hello everyone! My name is Larry and I’ve recently purchased a 2019 Vantage that only had 1500 miles on it. When I picked it up at the dealership the battery was dead and caused all sort of issues. Since then I’ve had messages for “Insert Key” and the blind spot indicators turning off with an error message. The car also likes to stop responding to the Start/Stop button and will turn itself off when I place it in park and open the door. The car has shut off while driving and I have to restart it while moving to keep going.
I replaced the battery a few days ago and it seemed good for a day and the. Just today I keep getting the “insert key” message and the no responsive start/stop.
I have to manually turn on/off the car with the key in the key slot when the message comes up.
any thoughts? I’m at a loss.

got dash middle console apart. Found crimped wires connecting Start/Stop. Is this the culprit??
If it was purchased very recently…isn’t I covered by the lemon law..clearly not as described..others will know better..mines a first gen..havn’t had the pleasure of driving the new ones…crimped cable may be a contributor…any codes being thrown?.
you could very well be right. might have to splice.
it may have been pinched at the factory unless someone's been monkeying around in the console after it was bought, and may have caused complications that frustrated the previous owner to such an extent that it was sold in short order. (speculation)

no codes. I’ll have to look into what they can do. It’s annoying. It works for a while and then causes problems.
Frustrating for sure!
Hard to help from afar, but I was getting random & unrelated errors, all of which stopped when I pushed the wires into the connector. They had backed out slightly under the weight of the loom providing intermittent connectivity. I would follow those wires to where they mate and make sure the harness isn't pulling on the connector(s).
As always, YMMV!

this morning after getting a flat tire (yes, this car is full of luck) I pulled back into the garage and the car shut itself off when I placed it into park. I found that when I wiggle or barely brush the Start/stop button, it would cycle through the on/off positions. Now I need to take it back apart and fix the connection or find a new button.
was it a AM dealership that you bought it from ? If so they never should have let it off the lot like that . If an independent dealer get it back to them and have them fix the issue or its lemon law time !
The part is on order from the UK. Swapping out the faulty Start/Stop switch and with fingers crossed, it works.
plus side to all of this, I can take out the entire middle console in less than 15 minutes. Haha.

"When I picked it up at the dealership the battery was dead and caused all sort of issues..."
Wow, I'm amazed that someone would actually complete a purchase a $100,000+ vehicle in a condition like this...
good luck

The issues presented themselves later.
But having said all of that. I fixed the issue.
it was a faulty Start/Stop button. Easily swapped out; now everything is perfect.
so I got an Aston Martin Vantage with 1700 miles for only $110,000. Worth the small headache to find the problem and fix myself.
