Here is one for ya…..
I have a 207 Vantage. In the three years I have opened the thing the AM radio worked for one year. The FM was fine as was the CD player. I planned to remove the radio this spring and send it to United Radio for repairs. Started the car for the first time this year and the AM radio band is working again. Did not do one thing to the car than put the car cover on. You have to love the AM niggles.
The AM radio is part of the AM/FM module in the RH quarter of the car which happens to fail frequently. Assuming your AM is completely silent with no static then it's most likely that is the problem. AM/FM module is $1k cost plus labor. So unless you have a favorite program I'd recommend an alternative solution.

I had an independent shop run the diagnostic on AMDS and it stated the AM/FM module was dead.
Found a replacement part from a salvaged car on eBay for cheap.
Replaced myself using the workshop manual so paid for the part only. It took me a Saturday morning. Not too bad.
Before you do this you may want to check your battery if it is low. One person on here reported that he replaced his battery and all was back to normal.
