Retrofitting radio ac control in db9
while I haven’t personally tried, and thus can’t answer with absolute certainty, I doubt it is possible If it was just plug-and-play the everyone would be doing it and this board would be full of retrofitted first-edition DB-9’s. As it is, I haven’t seen a one. The dash insert contains not just the infotainment controls but the HVAC controls as well. The HVAC CPU is a dedicated unit with EPROMS. I’d be shocked if the later models didn’t have updated CPU’s with altered programming. So even if the new dash insert physically fit and the connectors were the same, the new controls couldn’t talk to the old CPU. Probably same for the stereo, the nav system, the reading lights and anything else controlled from the early DB-9’s center stack.
I solved this problem by driving in a lower gear. The engine noise makes up for the lack of options with the infotainment system.
Seriously, in my 06 on the highway I am impressed that I can listen to the stereo over the engine/road noise. Just did a nice 40 miles on the highway to look at a car and the journey was the best part of the trip!

Yeah. I was just curious. As I’m looking for a solution to the crazing on the polarized display. I didn’t expect it would be a tough fix. But as research has it. I can’t justify the cost of a new replacement. I don’t mind spending on repairs. But in the case of $3-4k on a radio/Hvac display is not worth it in my opinion
