Thanks I thought so but I wanted to check. Is it strange the am band is not working but the fm is fine? Could it be the antenna amp?

Anything could be possible, from my checks of failure it's most likely the module and only the AM band fails, the easy check to diagnose is what do you hear when tuning to a local AM strong station? If you receive static and some sound it could be a connection or antenna issue. If all you hear is peace n quiet then it's the module if that makes sense.

J double U it makes perfect sense. I tried sitting next to an AM radio station broadcast tower and it is dead.

Good to know that you're figuring out the issue, next step is getting a new module.

Allied radio in any can fix it for around 100 bucks. They have been around since the late 20s and been fixing radios for car dealers for years.

I thought AM radio was only good for Nuclear blast warnings... do people still use AM radio in cars?
